First baseman Justin Morneau blasted a homerun and had 2 RBI as the Detroit
40's defeated the Toronto Scrub AL 1 9 to 4 at Rogers Centre.
 
Detroit scored 4 runs in the 5th inning with the help of 5 hits.  The
highlight belonged to Morneau who quieted the home crowd when he popped a
two-run clout over the fence (his 2nd of the season).  Detroit out-hit
Toronto for the game, 14 hits to 5.  
 
The win went to Zack Greinke(4-0) who allowed 4 runs in 8 innings. The loss
was charged to Jon Garland(0-3).  He allowed 3 homeruns in 4 and 1/3 innings
of work.

Derek Lowe pitched a 3 hit shutout at Turner Field where the Atlanta
Prohibitioners beat the Colorado Scrub NL 2 by the score of 6 to
0.
 
Lowe(1-1) was tremendous on the mound for Atlanta.  He surrendered only 3 hits
and 3 walks in 9 innings seeing his ERA drop from 1.99 to 1.42.  After the
2nd inning, neither team was able to score.  
 
Joe Blanton(1-1) was the loser.  He surrendered 6 runs and 6 hits in 1 and 2/3
innings.

At Fenway Park the Boston Stranglers were battered 11 to 5 by the Oakland
Scrub AL 2.
 
Mark Loretta led the offense for Oakland.  He doubled in the 1st inning,
doubled plating all three baserunners in the 3rd inning and doubled plating a
run in the 7th inning.  Both teams ended up with 15 hits on the afternoon.
 
Greg Maddux(1-3) got credit for the victory, pitching 7 and 2/3 innings and
allowing 5 runs. Joe Saunders(1-2) was given the loss.  He was not very
effective, surrendering 7 runs in 2 and 1/3 innings.
