Carlos Zambrano went the distance and catcher Chris Iannetta had 2 base hits
and 2 RBI as the Sunshine State Stalkers defeated the Cherry Hill Maulers 5
to 3 at US Cellular Field.
 
Cherry Hill fell behind quickly as the Sunshine State offense came through in
the first inning when they scored 4 runs on 3 hits.  That was all
Zambrano(2-0) needed.  The pitchers took over after the 4th inning as neither
team was able to score again.  
 
C.C. Sabathia(0-1) ended up with the loss. He pitched 7 and 2/3 innings
allowing 8 hits and 4 walks.

Cliff Lee tossed a complete game as the Minnesota SnowBirds topped the Sea
Isle Seagulls by a score of 8 to 4 at PNC Park.
 
Lee(2-0) gave a fine effort for Minnesota.  He allowed 8 hits and 3 walks in 9
innings.  Minnesota finished with 9 hits in the victory.  
 
Cole Hamels(0-1) absorbed the loss.  Minnesota scored big getting 5 runs off
him in 2 and 1/3 innings.

The Yardley Oaks nipped the Wall St Millionaires 5 to 4 at Yankee Stadium in a
hard fought contest.
 
Yardley did all of it's offensive work in the 3rd inning scoring 5 runners on
4 hits.  That scoring would be all that was needed.  Felix Hernandez(1-0) got
help from Joe Nathan who pitched great and earned his 1st save.  
 
Matt Cain(1-1) was hit with the loss.  He gave up 4 runs in 2 innings of work.
'I didn't have my best stuff but sometimes you just get lucky,' Hernandez
said, 'this was one of those times.'

At Comerica Park the Detroit 40's were battered 6 to 1 by the Binghamton
Brawlers.
 
Binghamton jumped on top of Detroit in the 2nd inning scoring 2 runners on 2
hits.  The early run support proved sufficient for Ryan Dempster(1-1) and
Binghamton.  That was all the run support Dempster required.  Binghamton
out-hit Detroit for the game, 11 hits to 7.  
 
Chad Durbin recorded his 1st save.  The loss was charged to Dan Haren(0-2).
He gave up 4 runs and 8 hits in 7 innings.

In a tight game it was the Pinehurst PinOaks 8, the Philadelphia Phranks 6 in
11 innings at Citizen's Bank Park.
 
Both teams were tied at 6 runs apiece after nine innings.  Pinehurst came out
the victor in the 11th inning.  After two outs Evan Longoria began the rally
when he doubled.  Manny Ramirez stepped into the batter's box and he slapped
a base-hit.  Ryan Howard then drew a walk to load the bases.  Derek Jeter was
up next and he lashed a single.  Brian Roberts was a strikeout victim, unable
to help out.  This was a game of many highs and lows for the home town fans,
as the lead kept changing - 6 times in all.  
 
Ramon Ramirez(1-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 2 innings and allowing
no runs. Brad Lidge(1-1) was tagged with the loss in relief.  He allowed 3
hits and 1 walk in 1 and 2/3 innings.

Atlanta Prohibitioners beat the Boston Stranglers by the score of 10 to
3.
 
In the top of the 2nd inning Atlanta went on top for good when they scored 3
runs on 4 hits.  Overall Atlanta out-hit Boston 18 to 8.  
 
The victory went to Brandon Webb(1-0) who went 7 and 2/3 innings, allowing 2
runs. Ervin Santana(1-1) was given the loss.  He allowed a few too many
baserunners giving up 13 hits and 4 walks in 5 and 2/3 innings.

The Toronto Scrub AL 1 edged the Washington Scrub NL 1 at Nationals Park by
the score of 3 to 2.
 
Andy Pettitte(1-0) pitched a solid game.  He went 8 innings allowing 8 hits
and no walks reducing his ERA from 2.84 to 2.51.  Washington went down
quietly in the bottom of the 9th.  
 
Pettitte got help from Jon Rauch who earned his 1st save.  Seth McClung(1-1)
took the loss in relief.  He allowed 1 run and 1 hit in 2/3 of an inning.

The Colorado Scrub NL 2 put 9 runs on the scoreboard in the 4th inning and
easily topped the floundering Oakland Scrub AL 2; the final score was 13 to
7.
 
Marco Scutaro helped send the fans home happy.  He doubled in the 1st inning
and electrified the crowd with a Grand Slam home run (his 3rd of the season)
in the 4th inning.  Oakland had 18 hits in the game while Colorado had 14,
but Colorado had the more timely hits.  
 
Joe Blanton(1-0) went 8 and 1/3 innings allowing 5 runs for the victory.
Javier Vazquez(0-2) took the loss.  He served up 3 homeruns in his 3 and 1/3
innings.
