Toronto came out the victor in the 10th inning. After an out was recorded, Kevin Millar blasted a solo shot (his 5th of the season) giving Toronto the win much to the delight of the home town crowd. Although they lost, Yardley did out-hit Toronto 8 to 5. Wil Ledezma(1-1) went 1 and 2/3 innings allowing no runs for the victory. Ryan Rowland-Smith(0-1) ended up with the loss in relief. 'Ahhh, that victory was surely needed. Man alive, things were getting awfully grim,' noted Cito Gaston. 'Now, we need to string a bunch of wins together and turn things around!' Philadelphia scored the decisive runs in a big 9th inning scoring 3 runs on 3 hits. Braun opened up the scoring as he blasted a solo shot (his 6th of the season). Vladimir Guerrero came to the plate and doubled. Two outs later Ryan Doumit came to the plate and blasted a two-run home run (his 1st of the season). For the game Philadelphia out-hit Washington 10 to 7. The win went to Salomon Torres(2-0) who allowed no runs in 1 and 1/3 innings. Torres got help from Brad Lidge who earned his 4th save. Francisco Cordero(0-2) was given the loss in relief. 'We just kept swinging the bats and didn't give up,' Braun said. 'If you just keep trying good things can happen!'
