Right fielder Jermaine Dye homered and had 4 RBI and Justin Duchscherer took a
no-hitter into the 6th inning as the Yardley Oaks topped the Cherry Hill
Maulers by a score of 9 to 2 at Yankee Stadium.

The home town fans were very appreciative of the fine hitting performance
provided by Dye. He blasted a two-run home run (his 9th of the season) in
the 2nd inning, doubled in the 4th inning and doubled resulting in a run in
the 5th inning. Yardley managed 10 hits in their victory.

The victory went to Duchscherer(2-1) who went the distance allowing 2 runs.
The right-handed Duchscherer lost his chance for a no-hitter when Dioner
Navarro doubled with nobody out in the 6th inning. John Lackey(1-2) suffered
the loss. He was touched for 3 homeruns in his 4 and 2/3 innings of work.

'Duchscherer gave us exactly what we needed tonight,' Joe Girardi said. 'When
he threw the fastball he threw it for strikes. They were really fooled by
his change. Most of the time he had them chasing it.'

Ian Kinsler had 5 hits and 5 RBI and Ervin Santana went 9 strong innings as
the Boston Stranglers clobbered the outmatched struggling Oakland Scrub AL 2,
14 to 2.

Kinsler had a big evening at the plate. He tripled scoring two baserunners in
the 2nd inning, tripled scoring a run in the 4th inning, doubled scoring a
run in the 6th inning, delivered a base-hit in the 8th inning and banged out
a single plating a run in the 9th inning. The Boston offense poured it on,
scoring in 8 of the 9 innings.

The winning pitcher was Santana(3-0) who allowed 2 runs for the game. The loss
was charged to Javier Vazquez(1-7). He got hit pretty hard, allowing 12 hits
and 2 walks in 5 and 1/3 innings.

Bob Geren was obviously impressed with the pitching of Santana, 'That guy made
us look a little silly out there tonight. We just couldn't get to him at all
- everything was working for him. I just hope that he got that kinda
performance out of his system.'

Adam Dunn had 2 base hits and 2 RBI as the Sunshine State Stalkers defeated
the Washington Scrub NL 1 by the score of 6 to 3 at Nationals
Park.

Washington fell behind quickly as the Sunshine State offense came through in
the first inning plating an isolated run. Michael Bourn lined a base-hit.
Bourn stole second with some aggressive base running. Sunshine State
continued their aggressive style with another stolen base. Prince Fielder
followed and he would ground out. Ryan Ludwick was the next batter, but he
struck out. Dunn was next to the plate, but was promptly struck out. Kevin
Gregg relieved and was untouched by Washington as he recorded the save, his
2nd.

Carlos Zambrano(3-1) went 7 and 1/3 innings allowing 3 runs for the win. The
losing pitcher was Edwin Jackson(1-3). He allowed 7 hits and 2 walks in 5
and 1/3 innings.
