Minnesota fell behind quickly as the Toronto offense came through in the first inning when they tallied 4 runs on 3 hits. The early run support proved sufficient for Sonnanstine(2-2) and Toronto. That was all the run support Sonnanstine required. Toronto banged out 7 hits on the night. The loss was charged to Matt Garza(4-1). He served up 3 gopher balls in 4 and 2/3 innings. Haren(2-3) came through with a virtuoso performance against the Washington hitters. He allowed just 4 hits and no walks in 9 innings improving his ERA from 6.15 to 4.58. Detroit totaled 10 hits on the night. Jonathan Sanchez(0-1) suffered the loss. When questioned about his counterpart after the game, Sanchez was lavish in his praise, 'It was obvious very early on that we were going to be in for a long night. Haren brought his 'A' game with him - he had good stuff and was able to spot it perfectly. He probably only made one or two bad pitches the entire game!
