WEB GEMS- Bot 7th: Adrian Beltre robbed Kevin Kouzmanoff of a base hit.

Dan Haren mowed down 11 Washington batters and Marlon Byrd cleared three ducks
from a very crowded pond with a grand slam as the Detroit 40's smashed the
overmatched slumping Washington Scrub NL 1, 10 to 0.

Haren(2-3) came through with a virtuoso performance against the Washington
hitters. He allowed just 4 hits and no walks in 9 innings improving his ERA
from 6.15 to 4.58. Detroit totaled 10 hits on the night.

Jonathan Sanchez(0-1) suffered the loss. When questioned about his
counterpart after the game, Sanchez was lavish in his praise, 'It was obvious
very early on that we were going to be in for a long night. Haren brought
his 'A' game with him - he had good stuff and was able to spot it perfectly.
He probably only made one or two bad pitches the entire game!
