One run was the difference at US Cellular Field as the Cherry Hill Maulers
defeated the Minnesota SnowBirds 3 to 2.
 
In the bottom of the 7th inning Cherry Hill scored 1 run.  Cherry Hill had 9
hits for the night while Minnesota had 6.  The winning pitcher was Roy
Halladay(5-1) who allowed 2 runs in 7 and 2/3 innings. Halladay got relief
help from Francisco Rodriguez who gained credit for his 11th save.  Matt
Garza(4-3) was the loser.  He pitched 6 and 2/3 innings and surrendered 7
hits and 3 walks.
 
This win by Cherry Hill continues their recent hot streak.  In their last ten
games, they have a record of 8-2.  For the season, they are a division
leading 20-10.  With the loss, Minnesota has a record of 7-3 lately, 21-12
overall.

Pinehurst jumped on top of Detroit in the 2nd inning when they tallied 2 runs
on 2 hits.  Pinehurst managed 9 hits in their victory.  
 
Mark Buehrle(2-3) allowed 3 runs in 7 and 1/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. Buehrle was helped out by Ramon Ramirez who recorded his 2nd save.
Dan Haren(3-4) was given the loss.  He allowed 9 hits and 3 walks in 6 and
2/3 innings.  
 
With this win, Pinehurst has a 10-20 record.  They have been 3-7 lately.  With

Todd Wellemeyer took a no-hitter into the 6th inning as the Wall St
Millionaires beat the Binghamton Brawlers by a score of 4 to
2.
 
Wellemeyer(3-0) earned his pay with a solid performance for Wall St.  He went
5 and 2/3 innings allowing 2 hits and 2 walks lowering his ERA from 1.70 to
1.48.  The right-handed Wellemeyer had his no-hit bid broken up by Carlos
Ruiz who singled with nobody out in the 6th inning.  Wall St had a total of 7
hits for the game.  
 
Taylor Buchholz earned his 3rd save.  John Maine(0-1) was charged with the
loss.  He was pinned with the loss despite not allowing an earned run in his
1 and 2/3 innings of work.  
 
Wall St now has a record of a division leading 19-11.  Binghamton continued
their losing ways and their record is now 13-20.  They are 2-8 in their last
ten games.

39,425 fans watched an exciting game at Citizen's Bank Park.  The Washington
Scrub NL 1 topped the Philadelphia Phranks by the slimmest of margins, 3 to
2.
 
The game was deadlocked at 2 after nine full innings.  Washington won the game
in the 12th inning.  Edgar Renteria doubled.  Bobby Crosby stepped up next
and he lined a single.  Jeff Mathis then worked the squeeze play to
perfection.  Washington had a total of 9 hits for the game.  
 
The win went to Dennis Sarfate(3-0) who allowed no runs in 3 innings. The
losing pitcher was Hong-Chih Kuo(2-1) in relief.  He surrendered 1 run and 2
hits in 1 inning.

In a lop-sided win the Sunshine State Stalkers ripped the Atlanta
Prohibitioners by a 7 to 2 count.
 
Sunshine State tallied 4 runs in the 4th inning with the help of 4 hits.  The
critical plate appearance was by Adam Dunn who came through for the home fans
when he belted a three-run homer (his 9th of the season).  Sunshine State had
9 hits overall, while Atlanta had 5.  
 
Jeff Bennett(3-1) got the win allowing 2 runs in 6 and 2/3 innings. Brandon
Webb(2-3) was hit with the loss.  He got hit pretty hard, allowing 6 hits and
2 walks in 3 and 2/3 innings.

Ray Durham had 2 base hits as the Oakland Scrub AL 2 defeated the Boston
Stranglers in 13 innings by the score of 3 to 2 at McAfee Coliseum.
 
The score was knotted at 2 after nine innings.  Oakland came out on top in the
13th inning.  After two were out Ben Francisco ripped a solo home run (his
3rd of the season) giving Oakland the victory as 20,389 happy fans celebrated
wildly.  Boston had 12 hits in the game while Oakland had 8, but Oakland had
the more timely hits.  
 
Brian Wilson(1-3) went 1/3 of an inning allowing no runs for the victory. J.P.
Howell(1-2) suffered the loss in relief.  He pitched 1 and 2/3 innings giving
up 1 hit and 3 walks.

Carlos Quentin blasted 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI as the Yardley Oaks outscored
the Toronto Scrub AL 1 10 to 7.
 
Quentin had a great evening at the plate. He had the crowd cheering his every
move.  He smashed a solo-shot out of the park in the 2nd inning, laced a
one-base hit scoring two baserunners in the 3rd inning and blasted a two-run
home run (his 8th of the season) in the 5th inning.  Joba Chamberlain(3-0)
got help from Joe Nathan who pitched a perfect ninth and was credited with
his 10th save.  
 
Andy Pettitte(3-1) was tagged with the loss.  He served up 3 homeruns in his 7
innings.  'It's almost like the ball was trying to hit my bat,' Quentin said.
'Whenever I would swing, the ball found the sweet spot.'

At Coors Field the Sea Isle Seagulls put a halt to their 8 game losing streak
and outscored the Colorado Scrub NL 2 7 to 4.
 
Cory Wade(3-1) earned the victory with a fine relief performance.  He didn't
allow much, just 1 hit and no walks in 3 innings.  Sea Isle rapped out 7 hits
for the night.  
 
Kerry Wood got the save, his 7th.  Oliver Perez(1-3) was the losing pitcher.
He served up 3 homeruns in his 6 and 1/3 innings.  
 
'We really needed this win' said John Russell.  'That first drink of water at
the end of a drought sure does taste good!'
