Raul Ibanez launched 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI at US Cellular Field as the
Cherry Hill Maulers beat the Minnesota SnowBirds by the count of 10 to
3.
 
Ibanez helped send the fans home happy.  He smashed a two-run homer in the 2nd
inning and blasted a solo shot (his 6th of the season) in the 7th inning.
Cherry Hill totaled 11 hits on the afternoon.  
 
The win was credited to John Lackey(3-0) who went 6 and 2/3 innings allowing 2
runs. Francisco Liriano(2-2) was the loser.  He served up 3 gopher balls in 2
and 2/3 innings.  
 
The winning ways continue for Cherry Hill.  They now have a record of 8-2 in
recent days.  With the loss Minnesota now has a record of 21-14.

It was a laugher out at Comerica Park.  The Detroit 40's squad ripped
Pinehurst pitching for a total of 10 runs.  Zack Greinke(6-1), with relief
help from Brian Tallet, held Pinehurst to 1 run.
 
Detroit wasted no time and took the lead in the first inning scoring 2 runners
on 2 hits.  That was all Greinke needed.  Detroit ended up with 15 hits for
the game while Pinehurst had 8.  
 
Jesse Litsch(1-5) was the losing pitcher. He was knocked around by Detroit,
allowing 8 hits and 3 walks in 5 and 1/3 innings.

James Shields blanked Binghamton in a very well-pitched complete game at
Wrigley Field as the Wall St Millionaires beat the Binghamton Brawlers 7 to
0.
 
Shields(3-2) put on a good performance.  He allowed just 10 hits and no walks
in 9 innings lowering his ERA from 4.91 to 3.94.  Wall St and Binghamton each
finished the afternoon with 10 hits.  
 
The loss was charged to Jorge Campillo(1-5).  He surrendered 1 run and 4 hits
in 5 and 2/3 innings.  The Wall St ballclub's record now stands at a division
leading 20-12.  With this loss, Binghamton has a 3-7 record of late, 14-21
overall.

to 6 at Citizen's Bank Park.
 
Chad Billingsley(4-3) had a fairly solid outing.  He allowed 6 hits and 2
walks in 6 and 1/3 innings.  For the game Philadelphia out-hit Washington 12
to 9.  
 
Nick Blackburn(2-4) absorbed the loss.  He pitched 5 innings allowing 7 hits

Hiroki Kuroda(4-3) and Derek Lowe(2-3) locked horns in a pitcher's duel with
Kuroda and the Sunshine State Stalkers coming out on top of the Atlanta

Kuroda was very good in the win.  He didn't allow much, just 3 hits and 1 walk
in 6 and 1/3 innings improving his ERA from 5.22 to 4.50.  Both teams totaled
4 hits on the afternoon.  
 
Kevin Gregg gained credit for his 7th save.

Catcher Geovany Soto had 4 hits and 3 RBI as the Boston Stranglers clobbered
the outmatched Oakland Scrub AL 2, 17 to 3.
 
Soto had a big day with his bat.  He bombed a two-run dinger (his 7th of the
season) in the 3rd inning, lined a base-hit in the 6th inning, doubled in the
7th inning and delivered a single bringing in a run in the 7th inning.
Boston provided plenty of action in the 3rd inning with 5 runs on 4 hits and
the 7th inning when they had 6 runs on 6 hits.  Overall Boston out-hit
Oakland 19 to 10.  
 
The victory went to Joe Saunders(4-2) who went 6 innings, allowing 3 runs.
Justin Masterson earned his 1st save.  Greg Smith(1-5) suffered the loss.  He
was knocked around pretty good, giving up 5 runs in 2 and 1/3 innings.

Kelly Shoppach connected with a 'big fly' as the Yardley Oaks outscored the
Toronto Scrub AL 1 9 to 2.
 
Yardley went ahead for good in the bottom of the 4th inning scoring 3 runs on
3 hits.  After two outs Mark Teixeira kicked off the action when he reached
on an error.  Alex Rodriguez followed and he doubled.  Carlos Quentin then
doubled.  Lance Berkman stepped in and he doubled.  Yardley out-hit Toronto
for the game, 12 hits to 5.  
 
Justin Duchscherer(2-1) went 6 innings allowing 2 runs for the win.
Duchscherer got help from Ryan Rowland-Smith who earned his 2nd save.  Andy
Sonnanstine(3-4) was tagged with the loss.  He gave up 6 runs in 4 and 2/3
innings of work.

J.J. Hardy blasted 2 homeruns and had 6 RBI at Coors Field as the Sea Isle
Seagulls embarrassed the Colorado Scrub NL 2 by the lopsided score of 13 to
1.
 
Hardy had a great day at the plate.  He stroked a base-hit scoring a run in
the 1st inning, doubled knocking in a run in the 2nd inning, cracked a
two-run shot in the 5th inning and blasted a two-run home run (his 8th of the
season) in the 7th inning.  Sea Isle ended up with 16 hits for the game while
Colorado had 5.  
 
The victory was credited to Clayton Kershaw(1-2) who went 6 innings, allowing
1 run. Chan Ho Park gained credit for his 1st save.  Zach Duke(2-6) was hit
with the loss.  He was touched for 10 hits and 2 walks in 6 innings.  
 
'It's almost like the ball was trying to hit my bat,' Hardy said. 'Whenever I
would swing, the ball found the sweet spot.'
