Edinson Volquez pitched a complete game as the Wall St Millionaires smashed
the overmatched Cherry Hill Maulers, 11 to 1.
 
Volquez(3-3) was very good in the win.  He allowed just 6 hits and 2 walks in
9 innings lowering his ERA from 4.41 to 3.90.  Wall St had 16 hits for the
night.  
 
C.C. Sabathia(4-4) was the losing pitcher.  He pitched 1 and 2/3 innings
giving up 5 hits and 2 walks.

The Pinehurst PinOaks nipped the Sunshine State Stalkers 3 to 2 at Camden
Yards in a hard fought contest.
 
Ramon Ramirez(3-2) did the job in relief, and he got credit for the win.  He
allowed 2 hits and 1 walk in 1 and 1/3 innings.  Both teams ended up with 7
hits on the night.  
 
John Grabow(1-3) absorbed the loss in relief.  With this win, Pinehurst has a
16-27 record.  They have been 4-6 lately.  With the loss, Sunshine State has
a record of 5-5 lately, 23-23 overall.

Gil Meche(5-2)with the aid of the bullpen shut down the Binghamton Brawlers
hitters at Shea Stadium.  The Detroit 40's came away with a 1 to 0
victory.
 
Meche had a solid outing for Detroit.  He was reached for 4 hits and 2 walks
in 6 and 2/3 innings lowering his ERA to 3.72.  Jonathan Papelbon pitched a
perfect ninth and was credited with his 9th save.  
 
Ryan Madson(2-4) suffered the loss in relief.  He allowed 1 run and 3 hits in
3 and 1/3 innings.  Detroit now has a record of 27-22.  With the loss
Binghamton now has a record of 18-28.

Designated hitter Bobby Abreu had 3 base hits and 2 RBI at Fenway Park where
the streaking Boston Stranglers beat the Philadelphia Phranks in 10 innings
by the score of 6 to 5.
 
The score was knotted at 5 after nine innings. Boston won it in the 10th
inning.  Alex Rios drew a walk.  Rios stole second with some aggressive base
running.  Boston continued their aggressive style with another stolen base.
Garret Anderson was up next and he lashed a single resulting in an exciting
win for Boston and a wild post-game celebration by the home town fans.
Boston banged out 9 hits on the night.  
 
The victory went to Justin Masterson(2-1) who went 2 and 2/3 innings, allowing
no runs. Brad Lidge(1-4) ended up with the loss in relief.  He pitched 1
inning and surrendered 3 hits and 2 walks.
 
Boston continued their winnings ways improving their record to 26-23.  They
are 9-1 in their last ten games.  Philadelphia has a record of 26-20 after
the loss.

In a dramatic ending at Turner Field the Atlanta Prohibitioners won in their
last at-bat beating the Yardley Oaks by the count of 4 to 3.
 
The game was won by Atlanta with a run in the 9th inning.  James Loney banged
out a single.  Pence got a good lead and stole second.  After an out was
recorded, Casey Blake stepped up to the plate and he stroked a one-base hit
making Atlanta the winners and sending the 42,165 fans home happy.  Atlanta
banged out 7 hits on the night.  
 
The victory was credited to Chris Sampson(2-1) who went 2 and 1/3 innings,
allowing no runs. Joba Chamberlain(3-1) suffered the loss in relief.  He
pitched 2 and 1/3 innings giving up 4 hits and no walks.

Chase Utley had 3 base hits at PNC Park where the blistering-hot Sea Isle
Seagulls beat the Colorado Scrub NL 2 4 to 2.
 
Colorado surrendered all of the runs Sea Isle needed in the 5th inning as they
scored 4 runs on 4 base hits.  The big moment was provided by Alfonso Soriano
who thrilled the crowd when he bombed a two-run dinger (his 4th of the
season).  Kerry Wood earned the save with a perfect ninth, his 13th save.
 
The win went to Ben Sheets(3-3) who allowed 2 runs in 5 and 1/3 innings. Cha
Seung Baek(1-5) was given the loss.  He pitched 5 and 2/3 innings giving up
10 hits and 1 walk.

Nick Markakis blasted 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI and Jered Weaver* went 9 strong
innings as the Minnesota SnowBirds topped the ice-cold Toronto Scrub AL 1 by
a score of 10 to 1 at Metrodome.
 
Markakis enjoyed a fine evening at the plate.  He popped a two-run clout over
the fence in the 1st inning and cracked a two-run shot (his 4th of the
season) in the 5th inning.  Minnesota had a total of 14 hits for the game.
 
The win went to Weaver*(4-3) who allowed 1 run in the game. Jon Garland(1-4)
was the losing pitcher.  He got hit hard, allowing 10 hits and 3 walks in 4
and 2/3 innings.  
 
Ron Gardenhire was very impressed with his pitcher, Weaver*, 'He had unusually
good pitch placement tonight.  It was almost unfair - but a beautiful game to
watch from where I sat'

Rich Aurilia had 3 base hits and 2 RBI as the Oakland Scrub AL 2 won a dandy
at McAfee Coliseum over the Washington Scrub NL 1, 3 to 2.
 
The game was won by Oakland with a run in the 9th inning.  Ben Francisco drew
a walk.  Aurilia stepped up next and he banged out a single.  Gary Matthews
Jr got his turn next, but he was a strikeout victim.  Rickie Weeks was up
next and he delivered a one-base hit making Oakland the victor and beginning
a joyous home town celebration.  Oakland out-hit Washington for the game, 8
hits to 5.  
 
The victory went to Jorge De La Rosa(3-3) who went 1 inning, allowing no runs.
Seth McClung(1-3) was tagged with the loss in relief.  
 
The Oakland ballclub's record now stands at 18-31.  With this loss, Washington
has a 3-7 record of late, 18-28, worst in the division overall.
