back to beat the Sunshine State Stalkers by the count of 8 to 7.

Pinehurst came through with the game-winning runs in the 9th inning with 3
runs on 4 hits. A.J. Pierzynski led off and started the rally when he laced
a base-hit. Pierzynski stole second with some aggressive base running.
Jacoby Ellsbury then stroked a single. Pinehurst continued their aggressive
style with another stolen base. Lyle Overbay dug into the batters box next,
but he struck out. After another out, Evan Longoria stepped up to the plate
and he ripped a base-knock. Pinehurst got their 2nd stolen base of the
inning. Manny Ramirez then was walked intentionally to load the bases. Ryan
Howard was up next and he banged out a single. Pinehurst finished with 14
hits while Sunshine State ended up with 10.

In a good matchup it was the Minnesota SnowBirds 5, the slumping Toronto Scrub
AL 1 3 at Metrodome.

Minnesota came up with 4 runs in the 2nd inning with the help of 4 hits. The
early run support proved sufficient for Matt Garza(5-5) and Minnesota. That
was all the run support Garza required. The Toronto batters went down meekly
in the 9th.

Mariano Rivera recorded the save, his 14th. Dana Eveland(2-4) was charged
with the loss. This win by Minnesota continues their recent hot streak. In
their last ten games, they have a record of 8-2. For the season, they are a
division leading 31-17. Still in a bad slump, with this loss, Toronto is 1-9
lately and 19-32, worst in the division on the year.

Second baseman Mark Ellis had 2 base hits and 2 RBI as the Washington Scrub NL
1 topped the Oakland Scrub AL 2 by a score of 5 to 3 at McAfee
Coliseum.

Washington came up with 3 runs in the 4th inning when they had 4 base hits.
The critical plate appearance was by Ellis who deflated the mood of the
partisan fans when he hit a single scoring two baserunners. Washington had
10 hits overall, while Oakland had 6.

The win was credited to Randy Wolf(3-6) who went 8 innings allowing 3 runs.
Wolf got relief help from Francisco Cordero who gained credit for his 8th
save. Barry Zito(2-6) was the losing pitcher. He got hit pretty hard,
allowing 8 hits and 3 walks in 3 innings.
