He gave up just 5 hits and 1 walk in 9 innings improving his ERA from 5.34 to 4.92. Sunshine State had 10 hits for the night. Nick Blackburn(3-7) was charged with the loss. He pitched 5 and 2/3 innings giving up 8 hits and 1 walk. 'When Baker is on like that it is a tough game to play, no doubt about it,' Manny Acta said. 'He always pitches well against us.' Nick Markakis provided the offensive punch. He banged out a single in the 2nd inning, doubled plating two runs in the 3rd inning and doubled bringing in two baserunners in the 6th inning. Both teams ended up with 12 hits on the afternoon. Jered Weaver*(5-3) allowed 3 runs in 5 and 2/3 innings, and picked up the victory. Oliver Perez(1-5) took the loss. He was hit hard and gave up 6 hits and 3 walks in 2 and 2/3 innings. With the win, Minnesota continued their winning ways; their streak now stands at 7 games and counting. Ron Gardenhire was in a talkative mood after the ballgame. 'Fellows, I don't know what to tell you. our guys are just playing lights out lately.
