The big moment was provided by Kotsay who silenced the stadium when he tripled emptying the bases. This was a game of many highs and lows for the home town fans, as the lead kept changing - 5 times in all. Sherrill(2-3) got credit for the victory, pitching 3 innings and allowing no runs. Francisco Cordero(2-2) was tagged with the loss in relief. He was unable to control the Oakland offense and allowed 8 hits and 3 walks in 4 innings. This win by Oakland continues their recent hot streak. In their last ten games, they have a record of 8-2. For the season, they are 22-33. Washington has a record of 20-32, worst in the division after the loss.
