Brandon Webb took a no-hitter into the 6th inning as the Atlanta
Prohibitioners defeated the Pinehurst PinOaks by a score of 2 to 0 at Turner
Field.
 
Webb(5-4) gave Atlanta a solid outing.  He allowed only 2 hits and 5 walks in
8 innings.  The right-handed Webb lost his no-hit bid when Derek Jeter
singled with one out in the 6th inning.  The pitchers took over after the 2nd
inning as neither team was able to score again.  
 
Brian Fuentes recorded the save, his 16th.  Mark Buehrle(2-6) was charged with
the loss.  He pitched 5 and 2/3 innings and surrendered 8 hits and 1 walk.

At Dolphins Stadium, the Sunshine State fans witnessed a great pitcher's duel.
Justin Duchscherer(3-2) finally bested his Sunshine State opposite, Jeff
Bennett(3-3), by the score of 3 to 0.
 
Duchscherer earned his pay with a solid performance for Yardley.  He allowed 3
hits and 2 walks in 6 innings lowering his ERA from 2.83 to 2.55.  Yardley
had only 5 hits for the night.  
 
Joe Nathan gained credit for his 14th save.  Bennett ended up with the loss.
He allowed 3 runs and 4 hits in 8 and 2/3 innings.

Carlos Beltran hit one over the fence and had 2 RBI as the Wall St
Millionaires outscored the Minnesota SnowBirds 9 to 5.
 
Wall St came up with 4 runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning when they had 3
base hits.  The highlight belonged to Matt Kemp who made the Wall St fans a
happy lot when he popped a two-run clout over the fence (his 9th of the
season).  For the game Wall St out-hit Minnesota 13 to 7.  
 
Todd Wellemeyer(4-3) was the winner allowing 4 runs in 7 innings. Matt
Garza(5-6) was the losing pitcher.  He was knocked around, surrendering 7
runs in 5 and 1/3 innings.

Jorge Campillo went 6 strong innings at Shea Stadium where the Binghamton
Brawlers beat the Cherry Hill Maulers 3 to 2.
 
Binghamton had 2 runs cross the plate in the bottom of the 5th inning with the
help of 3 hits.  They would prove to be the difference in the contest.
Campillo(3-6) got help from Chad Qualls who pitched a perfect ninth and was
credited with his 7th save.  
 
The losing pitcher was Roy Halladay(8-2).  The win by Binghamton is a very
welcome one as they have been struggling in recent days.  Their record now
stands at 19-31 - only 2-8 in their last ten games.  With the loss, Cherry
Hill has a record of 4-6 lately, 34-16 overall.

Dan Haren hurled a 3 hitter at Comerica Park where the Detroit 40's beat the
Philadelphia Phranks 6 to 1.
 
Detroit came up with 5 runs in the bottom of the 4th inning when they had 4
base hits.  The big moment was provided by Jason Varitek who excited the
crowd when he caught a hold of a fastball for a Grand Slam homerun (his 4th
of the season).  Detroit had a total of 9 hits for the game.  
 
Haren(5-5) got the victory, allowing 1 run for the game. Jamie Moyer(3-6) was
tagged with the loss.  He was touched for 6 hits and 2 walks in 3 and 2/3
innings.  
 
'Haren pitched a gem of a game', Charlie Manual recounted.  'He kept our
batters off balance the entire game.'

The Sea Isle Seagulls edged the Boston Stranglers at PNC Park by the score of
5 to 4.
 
John Lannan(5-4) struggled but was good enough to win with the help of some
fine defensive plays.  He gave up 6 hits and 4 walks in 5 innings.  After the
4th inning, neither team was able to score.  
 
Kerry Wood was credited with his 15th save.  Ervin Santana(6-4) was charged
with the loss.  He struck out 11 batters in 7 and 2/3 innings despite losing
the game.  
 
'I was a little good, a little bad and a little ugly.' said Lannan, 'I was
just giving us a chance to win.'

league door-mat Colorado Scrub NL 2 by a score of 5 to 4 at Coors
Field.
 
Andy Sonnanstine(4-6) had a solid outing for Toronto.  He went 6 innings
surrendering 8 hits and no walks.  Sonnanstine whiffed an impressive total of
8 Colorado batters.  Colorado threatened in the 9th but their rally came up
short.  
 
Sonnanstine got help from Ryan Franklin who was credited with his 5th save.
Cha Seung Baek(1-6) was given the loss.  He allowed 9 hits and 2 walks in 6
and 1/3 innings.

Center fielder Mark Kotsay had 5 hits and 4 RBI and George Sherrill pitched 3
strong innings as the Oakland Scrub AL 2 defeated the Washington Scrub NL 1
in 11 innings by the score of 12 to 7 at Nationals Park.
 
Both teams were tied at 7 runs apiece after nine innings.  Oakland came out
the victor in the 11th inning.  The big moment was provided by Kotsay who
silenced the stadium when he tripled emptying the bases.  This was a game of
many highs and lows for the home town fans, as the lead kept changing - 5
times in all.  
 
Sherrill(2-3) got credit for the victory, pitching 3 innings and allowing no
runs. Francisco Cordero(2-2) was tagged with the loss in relief.  He was
unable to control the Oakland offense and allowed 8 hits and 3 walks in 4
innings.  
 
This win by Oakland continues their recent hot streak.  In their last ten
games, they have a record of 8-2.  For the season, they are 22-33.
Washington has a record of 20-32, worst in the division after the loss.
