Meche(6-4) came through with a virtuoso performance against the Toronto hitters. He was stingy on the mound, allowing just 4 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings reducing his ERA from 5.02 to 4.52. Detroit kept the scorekeepers busy in the 1st inning with 5 runs on 7 hits and the 2nd inning with 4 runs on 4 hits. Neither team managed to score after the 4th inning. Jon Garland(1-6) was given the loss. 'When Meche is on like that it is a tough game to play, no doubt about it,' Cito Gaston said. 'He always pitches well against us.'
