Mike Mussina tossed a complete game and Ichiro Suzuki had 4 hits and scored 3
times as the Pinehurst PinOaks beat the Boston Stranglers by a score of 12 to
3.
 
In the bottom of the 4th inning Pinehurst scored 4 runs with the help of 3
hits.  The critical plate appearance was by Ryan Howard who made the crowd
happy when he doubled clearing all three ducks off the pond.  Pinehurst
simply wore out the Boston pitching staff, scoring in 6 different innings.
 
The victory went to Mussina(6-3) who went the distance allowing 3 runs.
Daisuke Matsuzaka(4-4) took the loss.  He was touched for 11 hits and 4 walks
in 4 and 1/3 innings.

Carlos Quentin blasted 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI and Kevin Slowey pitched a
complete game as the Yardley Oaks smashed the overmatched Cherry Hill
Maulers, 14 to 1.
 
Quentin had a great evening at the plate.  He had the crowd cheering his every
move.  He cleared the fences for a two-run home run in the 6th inning,
delivered a single bringing in a run in the 7th inning and lifted one out of
the park for a two run home run (his 14th of the season) in the 8th inning.
Yardley rapped out 14 hits for the night.  
 
The win was credited to Slowey(4-3) who went the whole way allowing 1 run. Roy
Oswalt(4-5) was the losing pitcher.  He allowed Yardley 7 runs in 5 and 1/3
innings of work.  
 
'Quentin led the way - we just jumped on his back and let him take us,' Slowey
said. 'I'm glad I don't have to face him. I'm glad he's on my team.'

SnowBirds defeated the Oakland Scrub AL 2 by a score of 8 to 3 at
Metrodome.
 
Joey Devine(6-0) pitched well in relief and was credited with the victory.  He
was reached for no hits and 2 walks in 2 innings.  Minnesota had 11 hits for
the night.  
 
Javier Vazquez(1-7) suffered the loss.  With this win, Minnesota has a
division leading 39-22 record.  They have been 5-5 lately.  With the loss
Oakland now has a record of 22-37, worst in the division.

Catcher Jesus Flores blasted a homerun and had 3 RBI and Oliver Perez was able
to finish what he started and was credited with a complete game at Coors
Field where the Colorado Scrub NL 2 beat the Wall St Millionaires by the
score of 5 to 3.
 
Colorado came through with the game-winning runs in the bottom of the 8th
inning with 2 runs.  Edwin Encarnacion led off the inning for Colorado when
he drew a walk.  After an out was recorded, Flores came up and he smashed a
two-run homer (his 5th of the season).  Colorado had a total of 8 hits for
the game.  
 
The victory was credited to Perez(2-6) who went the distance, allowing 3 runs.
Brian Shouse(0-2) absorbed the loss in relief.  By giving up 2 runs in 2 and
1/3 innings his ERA increased from 4.79 to 5.09.  
 
The win by Colorado is a very welcome one as they have been struggling in
recent days.  Their record now stands at 16-46 - only 2-8 in their last ten
games.  With the loss, the Wall St ballclub's record is 35-24.

In a close game the Philadelphia Phranks got by the Sunshine State Stalkers by
the score of 6 to 4.
 
Tim Lincecum(9-2) pitched well enough to earn the win. He was reached for 6
hits and 4 walks in 6 and 1/3 innings.  Lincecum chalked up 9 strikeouts and
surrendered 2 'long-bombs'.  Sunshine State was out-hit by Philadelphia, 13
hits to 7.  
 
Brad Lidge earned his 14th save.  David Bush(5-5) took the loss.  Philadelphia
now has a record of 33-29.  With the loss Sunshine State now has a record of
30-32.

In a dramatic ending at Nationals Park the Washington Scrub NL 1 won in their
last at-bat beating the Sea Isle Seagulls by the count of 3 to 2.
 
Washington won the game with a run in the bottom of the 9th inning.  Scott
Hairston doubled.  Jonathan Broxton then let loose a wild pitch.  Yorvit
Torrealba got his chance to keep things going, but he went down on strikes.
Doug Mientkiewicz was up next and he would hit into a fielders choice giving
Washington the victory as 18,826 happy fans celebrated wildly.  Sea Isle had
9 hits in the game while Washington had 6, but Washington had the more timely
hits.  
 
Francisco Cordero(3-2) got the win allowing 1 run in 1 inning. The losing
pitcher was Jeremy Affeldt(0-2) in relief.  He allowed 1 hit and no walks in
1 and 1/3 innings.

Tim Hudson was able to finish what he started and was credited with a complete
game and Andre Ethier hit 2 doubles at Turner Field as the Atlanta
Prohibitioners won in their last at-bat beating the Binghamton Brawlers by
the count of 4 to 3.
 
Atlanta scored the deciding run in the 9th inning. Carlos Delgado was hit by a
pitch.  After an out was recorded, James Loney stepped in and he lined a
one-base hit.  Casey Blake then drew a walk to load the bases.  Mike Fontenot
stepped in and he hit a single resulting in an exciting win for Atlanta and a
raucous post-game celebration by the home town fans.  Atlanta had a total of
10 hits for the game.  
 
Hudson(8-3) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 3 runs. Scott
Downs(3-4) was the loser in relief.  He pitched 2 and 1/3 innings giving up 3
hits and 3 walks.

In a two run game the Toronto Scrub AL 1 got by the Detroit 40's by the score
of 5 to 3.
 
Toronto jumped on top of Detroit in the bottom of the 4th inning scoring one
runner.  Although they lost, Detroit did out-hit Toronto 10 to 4.  
 
Andy Sonnanstine(5-6) got credit for the victory, pitching 6 innings and
allowing 3 runs. Jon Rauch gained credit for his 8th save.  Aaron Cook(6-4)
was given the loss.  
 
'It wasn't my best outing, but I'll take the win' Sonnanstine said.
