Johan Santana pitched a 2 hitter as the Pinehurst PinOaks outscored the
Binghamton Brawlers 8 to 1.
 
Manny Ramirez made sure the Pinehurst fans enjoyed themselves.  He lofted a
three-run bomb (his 18th of the season) in the 3rd inning and hit a single in
the 7th inning.  Pinehurst had 9 hits for the night.  
 
The winning pitcher was Santana(4-7) who allowed 1 run for the game. Jorge
Campillo(3-8) absorbed the loss.  He surrendered 4 runs and 2 hits in 4
innings.

Paul Maholm pitched 8 strong innings as the Sea Isle Seagulls defeated the
Boston Stranglers 2 to 1 at Fenway Park.
 
Maholm(9-1) gave Sea Isle a solid outing.  He didn't allow much, just 4 hits
and no walks in 8 innings.  Maholm got help from Kerry Wood who pitched a
perfect ninth and was credited with his 19th save.  
 
Ervin Santana(6-5) was tagged with the loss.  He allowed 2 runs and 4 hits in
7 innings.

Casey Blake slammed 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI and Ricky Nolasco took a
no-hitter into the 7th inning at Metrodome where the Atlanta Prohibitioners
beat the Minnesota SnowBirds by the score of 5 to 2.
 
Blake enjoyed a fine evening at the plate.  He blasted a two-run home run in
the 2nd inning and cleared the fences for a two-run home run (his 18th of the
season) in the 4th inning.  Minnesota was out-hit by Atlanta, 11 hits to 3.
 
The winning pitcher was Nolasco(9-4) who allowed 1 run in 6 and 2/3 innings.
The right-handed Nolasco had his no-hit bid broken up by Nick Markakis who
singled with nobody out in the 7th inning.  Jeremy Guthrie(6-6) was given the
loss.  He was unable to control the Atlanta offense and allowed 11 hits and 2
walks in 7 and 1/3 innings.

Jair Jurrjens took a no-hitter into the 6th inning at Citizen's Bank Park as
the Philadelphia Phranks beat the Washington Scrub NL 1 by the count of 3 to
0.
 
Jurrjens(3-4) pitched well for Philadelphia in their victory.  He went 6 and
1/3 innings allowing 2 hits and 3 walks reducing his ERA from 5.35 to 4.88.
The right-handed Jurrjens lost his chance for a no-hitter when Bobby Crosby
singled with nobody out in the 6th inning.  Jurrjens got help from Brad Lidge
who pitched great and earned his 15th save.  
 
Braden Looper(3-5) was hit with the loss.  He got hit pretty hard, allowing 9
hits and 3 walks in 5 and 1/3 innings.

Galarraga(8-2) escaped virtually unscathed against the Oakland hitters.  He
didn't give up much, just 1 hit and 1 walk in 9 innings seeing his ERA drop
from 4.64 to 4.08.  Cherry Hill banged out 8 hits on the afternoon.  
 
Luke Hochevar(1-1) suffered the loss.  He surrendered 4 hits and 3 walks in 6
innings.

got help from Taylor Buchholz who earned his 4th save.  The loss was charged
to Andy Pettitte(3-4).

Kevin Youkilis went deep and had 3 RBI as the Sunshine State Stalkers
outscored the lifeless Colorado Scrub NL 2 10 to 2.
 
Carlos Zambrano(6-3) had a solid outing for Sunshine State.  He allowed 7 hits
and 3 walks in 7 and 1/3 innings.  Sunshine State had 12 hits for the night
while Colorado had 7.  
 
Zach Duke(3-9) absorbed the loss.  Sunshine State scored big getting 7 runs
off him in 6 innings.

Left fielder Jason Bay went deep and had 2 RBI and A.J. Burnett mowed down 10
Yardley batters at Yankee Stadium as the Detroit 40's beat the Yardley Oaks
by the count of 10 to 4.
 
Burnett(8-6) pitched a fine game.  He was reached for 8 hits and 7 walks in 8
innings and served up 2 'big flies'.  Detroit had 14 hits for the afternoon
while Yardley had 8.  
 
Felix Hernandez(2-7) was the loser.  He gave up 8 hits and no walks in 1 and
2/3 innings.  'He was really impressive today,' Hernandez said of his
counterpart.  'Our guys were just swinging at air.'
