Ryan Dempster had a strong outing as the Binghamton Brawlers outscored the
Pinehurst PinOaks in 10 innings 5 to 2.
 
The game was deadlocked at 2 after nine full innings.  Binghamton ended up
winning it in the 10th inning.  After an out was recorded, Carlos Lee was the
sparkplug when he lined a base-hit.  Ramon Ramirez then uncorked a wild
pitch.  Derrek Lee then stroked a single.  Randy Winn followed and he
delivered a one-base hit.  Aaron Rowand came to the plate and delivered a
base-hit to load the bases.  Jayson Werth kept the rally going and slapped a
base-hit.  One out later, Jose Reyes came up and he drew a walk.  Binghamton
had 13 hits overall, while Pinehurst had 7.  
 
Scott Downs(4-4) went 2 innings allowing no runs for the win. Downs got help
from Chad Qualls who was credited with his 8th save.  Ramirez(4-3) was the
losing pitcher in relief.  He allowed 3 hits and 2 walks in 3 and 2/3
innings.

Mike Cameron blasted a homerun and had 3 RBI as the Sea Isle Seagulls beat the
Boston Stranglers by a score of 5 to 4.
 
Sea Isle tallied 3 runs in the 2nd inning.  The highlight belonged to Cameron
who silenced the crowd when he doubled bringing in two baserunners.  Boston
made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs
across.  
 
Cole Hamels(3-4) got credit for the victory, pitching 8 innings and allowing 2
runs. Hamels got relief help from Billy Wagner who gained credit for his 1st
save.  Jon Lester(3-6) was the loser.  He pitched 5 and 1/3 innings allowing
4 hits and 5 walks.
 
Despite losing Terry Francona was optimistic after the game.  'We'll get over
this one.  Sometimes the breaks fall your way, sometimes they don't.  Any one
of a dozen little things go different, and we come out on top.'

Jered Weaver* delivered 10 and one third solid innings as the Minnesota
SnowBirds defeated the Atlanta Prohibitioners in 12 innings 2 to 1 at
Metrodome.
 
Both teams were tied at 1 runs apiece after nine innings. Minnesota won the
hard fought contest in the 12th inning.  After an out was recorded, Carlos
Pena doubled.  Maicer Izturis was next and he doubled making Minnesota the
victor and beginning a joyous home town celebration.  Both teams totaled 6
hits on the night.  
 
The winning pitcher was Joey Devine(7-0) who allowed no runs in 1 and 2/3
innings. Chris Sampson(2-2) was charged with the loss in relief.

The Philadelphia fans enjoyed the offense provided by Guerrero.  He banged out
a single in the 2nd inning, smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly' in the 4th inning
and lofted a three-run bomb (his 17th of the season) in the 7th inning.
Philadelphia ended up with 10 hits for the game while Washington had 7.
 
Chad Billingsley(8-4) went 7 innings allowing 4 runs for the victory.
Billingsley got help from Brad Lidge who earned his 16th save.  Nick
Blackburn(4-9) was tagged with the loss.  He served up 4 homeruns in his 5
innings.  
 
'The ball was jumping off my bat' Guerrero said.  'I didn't do anything
differently, it's the same way I always approach the game.'

Left fielder Raul Ibanez hit one over the fence and had 3 RBI at US Cellular
Field as the Cherry Hill Maulers beat the reeling Oakland Scrub AL 2 in 12
innings by the count of 5 to 4.
 
The score was knotted at 4 after nine innings.  Cherry Hill won the game in
the 12th inning.  Miguel Olivo reached on an error.  Miguel Tejada dug into
the batters box next, but he struck out.  Ben Zobrist then reached on an
error resulting in an exciting win for Cherry Hill and a wild post-game
celebration by the home town fans.  Both teams totaled 11 hits on the
afternoon.  
 
Brad Ziegler(2-0) was the winner allowing no runs in 1 inning. Jorge De La
Rosa(3-4) was charged with the loss in relief.  He gave up 1 run and no hits
in 1/3 of an inning.

James Shields completed the game without help from the bullpen and Nate
McLouth left the yard and had 3 RBI as the Toronto Scrub AL 1 were badly
beaten by the Wall St Millionaires, 13 to 2.
 
McLouth provided much of the offense.  He lashed a single in the 1st inning,
lofted a three-run 'big-fly' (his 16th of the season) in the 6th inning and
doubled in the 8th inning.  Wall St had a total of 19 hits for the game.
 
Shields(6-4) got the victory, allowing 2 runs for the game. Bronson
Arroyo(2-8) suffered the loss.  He pitched 1 and 2/3 innings giving up 8 hits
and 2 walks.

One run was the difference at Coors Field as the Sunshine State Stalkers
defeated the dreadful Colorado Scrub NL 2 3 to 2.
 
Sunshine State jumped on top of Colorado in the 2nd inning scoring a single
run on 2 hits.  Colorado had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came
up short.  
 
The victory went to Hiroki Kuroda(8-5) who went 8 and 2/3 innings, allowing 2
runs. Kevin Gregg gained credit for his 10th save.  The losing pitcher was
Joe Blanton(4-4).  
 
'We lose our concentration for one pitch, and we lose the game.' Clint Hurdle
said after the game.  'Maybe now these guys will listen when I say they have
to concentrate on EVERY pitch.'

Detroit 40's 6 to 4 at Yankee Stadium.
 
Gavin Floyd(9-1) pitched well for Yardley in their victory.  He surrendered 4
hits and 2 walks in 8 innings and gave up 2 homeruns.  Overall Yardley
out-hit Detroit 8 to 4.  
 
Joe Nathan gained credit for his 17th save.  Zack Greinke(7-4) was given the
loss.  He allowed 3 homeruns in 7 innings of work.
