The Toronto Scrub AL 1 ended a long winless drought and nipped the pathetic
Colorado Scrub NL 2 in 11 innings 6 to 5 at Rogers Centre in a hard fought
contest.
 
The score was knotted at 5 after nine innings.  Toronto came out the victor in
the 11th inning.  After two outs Brendan Harris delivered a solo blast (his
4th of the season) giving Toronto the victory as 29,437 happy fans celebrated
wildly.  Toronto won despite being out-hit by Colorado 11 hits to 8.  
 
The win went to Ryan Franklin(4-2) who allowed no runs in 1 and 1/3 innings.
The losing pitcher was Jamey Wright(2-3) in relief.  He surrendered 1 run and
2 hits in 2 innings.  
 
Designated hitter Jim Thome rocketed 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI but it wasn't
enough for Colorado.

The Pinehurst PinOaks easily topped the Yardley Oaks; the final score was 9 to
3.
 
Pinehurst took the lead for good in the top of the 2nd inning when they scored
2 runs on 2 hits.  The key offensive moment was provided by Lyle Overbay who
disappointed the partisan crowd when he doubled which was good for two runs.
Pinehurst out-hit Yardley for the game, 13 hits to 8.  
 
Johan Santana(5-8) got the win allowing 3 runs in 8 and 1/3 innings. Gavin
Floyd(9-2) was charged with the loss.  He got hit hard, allowing 12 hits and
3 walks in 7 and 1/3 innings.  
 
With this win, Pinehurst has a 30-41 record.  They have been 5-5 lately.
Yardley has a record of 39-28 after the loss.

Brian Giles went deep and had 3 RBI as the Sunshine State Stalkers defeated
the Washington Scrub NL 1 by a score of 10 to 7 at Nationals Park.
 
Sunshine State came through with the game-winning runs in the 8th inning
scoring 3 runs using 2 hits.  Chris Iannetta started the scoring when he
blasted a solo shot (his 10th of the season).  Dan Uggla was the next batter,
but he struck out.  Adam Dunn then drew a walk.  Milton Bradley followed and
he drew a walk.  Prince Fielder came to the plate and delivered a one-base
hit to load the bases.  Giles did his part to keep things going and drew a
walk.  Ryan Ludwick next to the plate and he drew a walk.  Kevin Youkilis
followed, but he was set down on strikes.  Sunshine State simply wore out the
Washington pitching staff, scoring in 6 different innings.  
 
The win was credited to Carlos Marmol(3-2) who went 2 and 1/3 innings allowing
1 run. Dennis Sarfate(3-2) was tagged with the loss in relief.

Brian McCann blasted 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI and Ricky Nolasco went the
distance at Turner Field as the Atlanta Prohibitioners beat the Oakland Scrub
AL 2 11 to 3.
 
McCann was a one-man wrecking crew.  He bombed a two-run dinger in the 1st
inning, delivered a single bringing in a run in the 4th inning and lifted one
out of the park for a two run home run (his 13th of the season) in the 6th
inning.  Atlanta finished with 14 hits in the victory.  
 
The victory went to Nolasco(11-4) who went the distance allowing 3 runs.
Javier Vazquez(1-9) took the loss.  He gave up 9 runs in 5 and 2/3 innings of
work.  
 
'I didn't feel that good when I came to the park tonight,' McCann said.  'I'm
glad I decided to play!'
