Colorado was unable to overcome the big offensive rally by Pinehurst in the top of the 9th inning as they ripped Colorado for 7 runs on 8 hits. The key offensive moment was provided by Phillips who quieted the crowd when he cracked a two-run shot (his 11th of the season). Pinehurst had 15 hits overall, while Colorado had 10. The win went to Darren Oliver(2-0) who allowed no runs in 1 inning. Oliver got relief help from Roy Corcoran who gained credit for his 7th save. Manny Corpas(1-8) was the losing pitcher in relief. 'I pin this one on my own shoulders,' Corpas said. 'The bottom line is I didn't get the job done. Our fans deserve better than this.' Jon Rauch gained credit for his 12th save. Saul Rivera(0-2) was hit with the loss in relief. His ERA increased from 4.02 to 5.13 as he allowed 5 runs in 2 innings. When questioned about the loss, Bob Geren said, 'The fans got to see an exciting game out there tonight. Unfortunately, we couldn't get it done this time. Next time, though, we'll be the clubhouse with all the smiles.'
