Brandon Phillips homered and had 3 RBI at Coors Field as the Pinehurst PinOaks
pulled off a dramatic comeback beating the Colorado Scrub NL 2 by the count
of 9 to 8.

Colorado was unable to overcome the big offensive rally by Pinehurst in the
top of the 9th inning as they ripped Colorado for 7 runs on 8 hits. The key
offensive moment was provided by Phillips who quieted the crowd when he
cracked a two-run shot (his 11th of the season). Pinehurst had 15 hits
overall, while Colorado had 10.

The win went to Darren Oliver(2-0) who allowed no runs in 1 inning. Oliver got
relief help from Roy Corcoran who gained credit for his 7th save. Manny
Corpas(1-8) was the losing pitcher in relief.

'I pin this one on my own shoulders,' Corpas said. 'The bottom line is I
didn't get the job done. Our fans deserve better than this.'

and 2/3 innings allowing 2 hits and 2 walks. The left-handed Johnson lost

Johnson was helped out by Chad Gaudin who recorded his 2nd save. The loss was
charged to Nick Blackburn(5-13). He got hit pretty hard, allowing 13 hits

Catcher Pedro Feliz had 3 base hits at McAfee Coliseum where the Toronto Scrub
AL 1 beat the slumping Oakland Scrub AL 2 by the score of 8 to 6.

Jon Garland(4-11) contributed a pedestrian performance to earn the win. He
was reached for 9 hits and 1 walk in 7 innings. Oakland had a chance to come
back in the 9th but they came up short.

Jon Rauch gained credit for his 12th save. Saul Rivera(0-2) was hit with the
loss in relief. His ERA increased from 4.02 to 5.13 as he allowed 5 runs in
2 innings.

When questioned about the loss, Bob Geren said, 'The fans got to see an
exciting game out there tonight. Unfortunately, we couldn't get it done this
time. Next time, though, we'll be the clubhouse with all the smiles.'
