Mike Jacobs cracked 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI as the Oakland Scrub AL 2
defeated the Pinehurst PinOaks by a score of 6 to 4 at Camden Yards.

Jacobs was unconscious out there. While Pinehurst pitching was serving
softballs up there for him to hit, the Pinehurst fans were serving up some
hardball barbs when he entered the batter's box. But he just used it as fuel
for the fire. He popped a two-run clout over the fence in the 1st inning,
singled in the 3rd inning and lost the ball over the fence for three runs
(his 27th of the season) in the 8th inning. Pinehurst was set down quietly
in the bottom of the 9th.

The victory went to Brian Wilson(3-4) who went 2 and 1/3 innings, allowing 1
run. George Sherrill earned his 10th save. Ramon Ramirez(6-5) ended up with
the loss in relief. He was knocked around, surrendering 3 runs in 2 innings.

'I felt great out there tonight,' Jacobs said, 'Maybe I should make a regular
habit of getting to bed on time!'

In a dramatic ending the Cherry Hill Maulers staged a comeback and held on to
win over the Boston Stranglers by the count of 5 to 3.

Cherry Hill won the game with a rally in the 9th inning scoring 3 runs using 3
hits. Mark Derosa led off and keyed the rally when he slapped a single, and
an error was also committed. Magglio Ordonez got his chance to keep things
going, but he went down on strikes. Aubrey Huff then lifted one out of the
park for a two run home run (his 20th of the season). Manny Ramirez came up
and he cracked a solo homerun (his 23rd of the season). Carlos Guillen dug
into the batters box next, but he struck out. Miguel Cabrera followed, but
he was set down on strikes. Francisco Rodriguez was perfect in relief and
gained credit for his 26th save.

The win went to Grant Balfour(4-1) who allowed no runs in 1 inning. The loss
was charged to Joakim Soria(2-2) in relief. 'We just kept swinging the bats
and didn't give up,' Chad Bradford said. 'If you just keep trying good things
can happen!'

duel. Jorge Campillo(6-9) finally bested his Toronto counterpart, Jon
Garland(1-11), by the score of 3 to 1.

banged out a single. Garrett Atkins stepped into the batter's box and he
stroked a base-hit. After an out was recorded, Derrek Lee came to the plate
and smacked a three-run homer (his 10th of the season). One out later, Aaron
Rowand was a strikeout victim, unable to help out. The teams had been locked
in a scoreless duel until the 6th inning.
