Jim Edmonds smacked 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI at Comerica Park as the
Washington Scrub NL 1 came back dramatically to top the Detroit 40's by the
score of 15 to 14.

Washington came up with the deciding runs in the 9th inning scoring 3 runs
utilizing 4 base hits. After an out was recorded, Kevin Kouzmanoff keyed the
rally when he stroked a one-base hit. Gabe Gross followed and he doubled.
Mike Rivera then laced a base-hit. Taveras was safe on a stolen base. One
out later, Bobby Crosby stepped up to the plate and he doubled. Anderson
Hernandez added his contribution to the rally and was walked intentionally.
Washington kept the scorekeepers busy in the 3rd inning when they had 6 runs
on 5 hits and the 6th inning with 4 runs. A wild affair, this game saw the
lead change 5 times.

The win went to Francisco Cordero(5-5) who allowed no runs in 1 and 2/3
innings. Jonathan Papelbon(2-3) was tagged with the loss in relief. He
allowed 3 runs and 4 hits in 1 inning.

Jim Leyland was not very talkative after his team's tough loss. 'I'm not in
the mood for questions, but I'm sure Manny Acta will be glad to talk about
the game as long as you have questions to ask.'

54,875 fans watched an exciting game at Yankee Stadium. The Yardley Oaks were
certainly pleased to stop the bleeding as their 5 game losing streak was
finally halted and topped the Minnesota SnowBirds by the slimmest of margins,
4 to 3.

Yardley scored 3 runs in the 5th inning with the help of 4 hits. They ended up
being the winning runs. Minnesota had a chance to come back in the 9th but
they came up short.

Felix Hernandez(3-7) was the winner allowing 3 runs in 5 innings. Joe Nathan
got the save, his 19th. Matt Garza(7-11) was the losing pitcher. He allowed
7 hits and 3 walks in 4 and 1/3 innings.

'It felt really nice to get this win,' Hernandez said. 'I kind of dictated the
game. It's what I get paid to do. It worked out this time.'
