Designated hitter J.D. Drew rocketed 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI as the Minnesota
SnowBirds outscored the Boston Stranglers 7 to 3.
 
Drew had a great evening at the plate.  He had the crowd cheering his every
move.  He doubled knocking in a run in the 1st inning, ripped a solo home run
in the 4th inning and belted a three-run homer (his 14th of the season) in
the 7th inning.  Both teams ended up with 8 hits on the night.  
 
The victory was credited to Rafael Perez(2-0) who went 3 and 1/3 innings,
allowing no runs. The loss was charged to Jesse Carlson(0-2) in relief.  He
was not very effective, surrendering 3 runs in 2 and 1/3 innings.  
 
'I didn't feel that good when I came to the park tonight,' Drew said.  'I'm
glad I decided to play!'

Derek Jeter collected 2 extra-base hits and had 6 RBI as the Pinehurst PinOaks
crushed the struggling Toronto Scrub AL 1 24 to 5.
 
Jeter had a big evening at the plate.  He tripled plating two runs in the 1st
inning, doubled clearing all three ducks off the pond. in the 2nd inning and
lined a single resulting in a run in the 3rd inning.  Pinehurst kept the
scorekeepers busy in the 2nd inning with 5 runs and the 7th inning with 7
runs on 5 hits.  Pinehurst had 19 hits for the game and Toronto had 8.
 
Jesse Litsch(5-8) got credit for the victory, pitching 5 and 1/3 innings and
allowing 3 runs. Darren Oliver was credited with his 1st save.  Dana
Eveland(2-7) was the loser.  His ERA increased from 4.82 to 5.23 as he
allowed 3 runs in 1/3 of an inning.  
 
'Jeter led the way - we just jumped on his back and let him take us,' Litsch
said. 'I'm glad I don't have to face him. I'm glad he's on my team.'

Alexei Ramirez had 4 hits and 2 RBI and Ubaldo Jimenez blanked Sunshine State
allowing just 2 hits as the Philadelphia Phranks destroyed the Sunshine State
Stalkers by a score of 11 to 0 at Citizen's Bank Park.
 
Jimenez(10-6) escaped virtually unscathed against the Sunshine State hitters.
He didn't give up much, just 2 hits and 4 walks in 9 innings.  Jimenez racked
up 12 strikeouts lowering his ERA from 3.80 to 3.53.  Philadelphia banged out
16 hits on the night.  
 
Hiroki Kuroda(9-8) was the losing pitcher.  He was knocked around,
surrendering 7 runs in 2 and 2/3 innings.  Jimenez was pleased with his
performance.  He noted, 'I had good zip on my pitches.  Just as important, my
location was right on.  The fans really got into the game too - that always
helps me.  Now, if I can only do that again in my next outing.'

At PNC Park the Sea Isle Seagulls outscored the Binghamton Brawlers 5 to
2.
 
In the bottom of the 7th inning Sea Isle scored 4 runs with the help of 5
hits.  The big moment was provided by Chase Utley who made the Sea Isle fans
a happy lot when he lofted a three-run 'big-fly' (his 11th of the season).
Sea Isle totaled 10 hits on the afternoon.  
 
The victory went to Ben Sheets(6-4) who went 8 innings, allowing 2 runs. Kerry
Wood earned the save, his 28th.  John Maine(4-2) suffered the loss.

Edinson Volquez(9-4) gave a fine effort for Wall St.  He allowed 5 hits and 6
walks in 8 and 1/3 innings.  Overall Wall St out-hit Colorado 12 to 5.  
 
The losing pitcher was Oliver Perez(3-9).  He was knocked around by Wall St,
allowing 12 hits and 2 walks in 8 innings.  Wall St now has a record of a
division leading 53-30.  With the loss, the Colorado ballclub's record is
24-65, worst in the division.

At Turner Field, the Atlanta faithful were treated to an intriguing pitcher's
duel.  Tim Redding(3-9) finally bested his Atlanta counterpart, Derek
Lowe(4-10), by the score of 3 to 1.
 
Washington scored 2 runs in the 3rd inning.  The early run support proved
sufficient for Redding and Washington.  That was all the run support Redding
required.  Washington finished with just 6 hits in the victory.  
 
Francisco Cordero recorded the save, his 12th.  Lowe was tagged with the loss.
He allowed 6 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings.

Miguel Cabrera ripped 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI as the incredible Cherry Hill
Maulers destroyed the Detroit 40's by a score of 18 to 6 at US Cellular
Field.
 
Cabrera helped send the fans home happy.  He stroked a base-hit in the 4th
inning, smashed a two-run homer in the 6th inning and lifted one out of the
park for a two run home run (his 18th of the season) in the 7th inning.
Cherry Hill provided plenty of action in the 6th inning with 4 runs on 4
hits, the 7th inning which saw them plate 4 runs on 3 hits and the 8th inning
which saw them plate 7 runs on 6 hits.  Cherry Hill ended up with 20 hits for
the game while Detroit had 11.  
 
C.C. Sabathia(11-5) picked up the victory, allowing 5 runs in 7 innings. Gil
Meche(8-6) was charged with the loss.  He was unable to control the Cherry
Hill offense and allowed 11 hits and 3 walks in 6 innings.  
 
With this win, Cherry Hill has a division leading 55-28 record.  They have
been 6-4 lately.  With this loss, Detroit has a 5-5 record of late, 52-37
overall.
