In a thriller the Boston Stranglers staged a dramatic comeback over the Cherry
Hill Maulers winning by a score of 3 to 2 at Fenway Park.

Boston came through with the game-winning runs in the 9th inning scoring 3
runs using 3 hits. Geovany Soto started the attack as he hit a bases-empty
home run (his 14th of the season). Torii Hunter came next and he hit a
single. Alex Rios then bombed a two-run dinger (his 8th of the season).
Boston had a total of 10 hits for the game.

The win went to Justin Masterson(8-1) who allowed no runs in 1 and 1/3
innings. The losing pitcher was Francisco Rodriguez(5-4) in relief. 'Now
that is what I call fun! I just love baseball, especially games like this, of
course,' Terry Francona offered. 'Everyone at the stadium had a great time -
did you see the fans go wild there at the end?!'

One run was the difference at McAfee Coliseum as the Oakland Scrub AL 2 ended
a long winless drought and defeated the Pinehurst PinOaks 4 to 3.

Oakland did all the necessary damage in the 1st inning when they scored 4 runs
on 4 hits. The early run support proved sufficient for Greg Maddux(5-10) and
Oakland. That was all the run support Maddux required. Pinehurst made it
exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across.

George Sherrill recorded the save, his 11th. Adam Wainwright(6-8) took the
loss. 'It was a tough one to lose' said Dave Trembley 'We'll get them next
time out.'
