Miguel Cabrera smashed 3 homeruns and had 4 RBI and C.C. Sabathia tossed a
complete game at Rogers Centre where the Cherry Hill Maulers beat the league
door-mat Toronto Scrub AL 1 by the score of 10 to 1.

Cabrera was unconscious all evening. The Toronto fans hated to see him
approaching the batter's box as he just kept delivering base hits! He smashed
a bases-empty 'big-fly' in the 4th inning, bombed a two-run dinger in the 5th
inning, laced a one-base hit in the 7th inning and smashed a solo-shot out of
the park (his 28th of the season) in the 9th inning. Cherry Hill rapped out
12 hits for the night.

The victory was credited to Sabathia(16-6) who went the distance, allowing 1
run. The losing pitcher was Andy Pettitte(4-11). He allowed Cherry Hill 7
runs in 5 and 1/3 innings of work.

'Some days it just all comes together, and this was one of them' Cabrera said.
'I've been seeing the ball pretty well lately.'

Nick Markakis had 4 hits and 3 RBI and Rafael Perez had a strong outing as the
Minnesota SnowBirds rallied impressively to win in dramatic style over
Oakland Scrub AL 2, 12 to 7.

Minnesota put a big number on the board in the top of the 9th inning, which
proved too much for Oakland to overcome as they erupted for 10 runs on 10
hits. The key at-bat was by Joe Mauer who deflated the spirits of the home
town crowd when he stroked a one-base hit scoring two baserunners. Overall
Minnesota out-hit Oakland 18 to 10.

Perez(3-0) allowed no runs in 3 and 1/3 innings, and picked up the victory.
George Sherrill(2-10) was hit with the loss in relief. He allowed 8 hits and
1 walk in 2/3 of an inning.

After the game, it took a long while before Bob Geren emerged from his office.
In a subdued tone he answered only a couple of questions. He concluded
with, 'Fellows, sorry I'm not in a very talkative mood tonight, as I think
you'll understand. I'm sure you'll find the banter a lot more light-hearted
over in the Minnesota locker room.'
