Vernon Wells smacked 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI at Rogers Centre as the potent Cherry Hill Maulers beat the Toronto Scrub AL 1 by the count of 13 to 6. Wells was unconscious out there. While Toronto pitching was serving softballs up there for him to hit, the Toronto fans were serving up some hardball barbs when he entered the batter's box. But he just used it as fuel for the fire. He blasted a two-run home run in the 2nd inning, rifled a three-run blast (his 19th of the season) in the 3rd inning and stroked a base-hit in the 4th inning. Overall Cherry Hill out-hit Toronto 16 to 10. The win was credited to Armando Galarraga(11-6) who went 5 and 1/3 innings allowing 5 runs. Andy Sonnanstine(7-10) was tagged with the loss. He allowed 6 hits and 2 walks in 2 and 2/3 innings. 'I just got in the box, looked for a pitch and swung,' Wells said.
