WEB GEMS- Bot 1st: Aramis Ramirez robbed Paul Konerko of a base hit.

Vernon Wells smacked 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI at Rogers Centre as the potent
Cherry Hill Maulers beat the Toronto Scrub AL 1 by the count of 13 to
6.

Wells was unconscious out there. While Toronto pitching was serving softballs
up there for him to hit, the Toronto fans were serving up some hardball barbs
when he entered the batter's box. But he just used it as fuel for the fire.
He blasted a two-run home run in the 2nd inning, rifled a three-run blast

Ben Sheets was able to finish what he started and was credited with a complete
game and Chase Utley slammed a homerun and had 6 RBI as the Sea Isle Seagulls
crushed the slumping Colorado Scrub NL 2 16 to 3.

Utley enjoyed a big day at the plate. He lofted a three-run 'big-fly' (his
14th of the season) in the 3rd inning, banged out a single which was good for
two runs in the 5th inning and doubled in the 7th inning. Sea Isle kept the
scorekeepers busy in the 5th inning which saw them plate 4 runs on 4 hits and
the 9th inning which saw them plate 5 runs on 4 hits. Sea Isle simply wore
out the Colorado pitching staff, scoring in 6 different innings.

Sheets(11-5) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 3 runs. Joe
Blanton(6-12) was tagged with the loss. He was knocked around pretty good,
giving up 7 runs in 5 innings.

'It's just about getting in a good hitting position and just going out there
and being prepared,' Utley said. 'You try to hit in your own capacity and not
do too much. I just try to have a good approach, day after day, game by game,
and pitch by pitch.'
