Miguel Cabrera homered and C.C. Sabathia struck out 10 batters as the powerful
Cherry Hill Maulers defeated the Pinehurst PinOaks by the score of 7 to 2 at
US Cellular Field.
 
Sabathia(18-8) had a strong outing.  He didn't allow much, just 6 hits and no
walks in 9 innings.  Cherry Hill banged out 12 hits on the night.  
 
Johan Santana(9-12) was the loser.  He got hit pretty hard, allowing 12 hits
and 4 walks in 8 innings.  'Everything felt great' Sabathia said. 'I had a
good fastball, I felt I could throw it by everybody tonight.'

Geovany Soto went yard and had 2 RBI at Fenway Park as the Boston Stranglers
beat the Oakland Scrub AL 2 5 to 4.
 
Boston jumped on top to stay in the 4th inning when they scored 2 runs on 2
hits.  The critical plate appearance was by Soto who made the crowd happy
when he blasted a two-run home run (his 17th of the season).  Oakland made it
exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across.
 
The victory went to Joe Saunders(8-8) who went 7 innings, allowing 3 runs.
Joakim Soria got the save, his 25th.  Greg Smith(7-16) was hit with the loss.

The Philadelphia Phranks cruised to a 9 to 4 victory over the Binghamton
Brawlers at Citizen's Bank Park.
 
Philadelphia went ahead for good in the 3rd inning scoring 3 runners on 3
hits.  The big moment was provided by Alexei Ramirez who made the crowd come
alive when he popped a two-run clout over the fence (his 25th of the season).
Philadelphia had 11 hits for the afternoon.  
 
Jair Jurrjens(8-7) got credit for the victory, pitching 5 and 2/3 innings and
allowing 2 runs. Carlos Villanueva(3-2) was given the loss.  He was knocked
around by Philadelphia, allowing 8 hits and 2 walks in 5 and 1/3 innings.

The Atlanta Prohibitioners edged the Wall St Millionaires at Wrigley Field by
the score of 3 to 2.
 
Latroy Hawkins(2-0) came through for Bobby Cox with an excellent relief stint.
No one got on base in his 1 and 2/3 innings.  Wall St could do no damage in
the bottom of the 9th.  
 
Hawkins got help from Brandon Morrow who was credited with his 3rd save.  The
losing pitcher was Edinson Volquez(11-10).  Atlanta continued their winnings
ways improving their record to 76-52.  They are 8-2 in their last ten games.
With this loss, Wall St has a 4-6 record of late, 79-49 overall.

Carlos Pena touched them all and had 4 RBI as the Minnesota SnowBirds defeated
the Yardley Oaks by a score of 5 to 1 at Metrodome.
 
Yardley was unable to claim the lead after Minnesota went ahead in the 3rd
inning scoring 2 runs utilizing 3 base hits.  David Dejesus led off and he
doubled.  After an out was recorded, Jerry Hairston Jr came up and he drew a
walk.  Joe Mauer then delivered a single to load the bases.  Nick Markakis
stepped in and he was walked intentionally to load the bases.  Pena came to
the plate and banged out a single.  Pena took second on the throw.  That
scoring would be all that was needed.  Minnesota had 9 hits for the night
while Yardley had 5.  
 
The win went to Cliff Lee(15-7) who allowed 1 run in 7 innings. Ted
Lilly(12-11) ended up with the loss.  He surrendered 7 hits and 4 walks in 5
and 1/3 innings.

David Bush mowed down 10 Colorado batters at Dolphins Stadium where the
Sunshine State Stalkers beat the reeling Colorado Scrub NL 2 by the score of
7 to 5.
 
Bush(15-6) had a solid outing for Sunshine State.  He surrendered 9 hits and 2
walks in 7 innings.  Although they lost, Colorado did out-hit Sunshine State
10 to 7.  
 
Bush got relief help from Mike Adams who gained credit for his 4th save.  The
loss was charged to Tim Wakefield(2-13).  Sunshine State scored big getting 7
runs off him in 5 innings.  
 
Bush was jubilant in the hometown clubhouse, 'It was a lot of fun out there.
The fans gave me a lot of support as did my teammates.  We got the victory
and I'll sure take 10 strikeouts anytime!'

Third baseman Chipper Jones had 3 base hits as the incredible Sea Isle
Seagulls defeated the slumping Washington Scrub NL 1 in 11 innings by the
score of 4 to 3 at PNC Park.
 
The score was tied at 3 after nine.  Sea Isle was victorious in the 11th
inning.  Johnny Damon slapped a base-hit.  After an out was recorded, Chase
Utley stepped up to the plate and he was hit by a pitch.  Jones then doubled
giving Sea Isle the victory as 36,396 happy fans celebrated wildly.  Sea Isle
finished with 12 hits while Washington ended up with 9.  
 
The victory was credited to Will Ohman(1-3) who went 1 inning, allowing no
runs. Francisco Cordero(6-8) was given the loss in relief.  He was hit hard
and gave up 7 hits and 2 walks in 3 and 2/3 innings.

Adrian Beltre cracked a homer and had 2 RBI at Comerica Park as the Detroit
40's beat the Toronto Scrub AL 1 by the count of 10 to 4.
 
Detroit wasted no time and took the lead in the first inning scoring 2 runners
on 3 hits.  The big moment was provided by Beltre who came through for the
home fans when he bombed a two-run dinger (his 12th of the season).  Detroit
out-hit Toronto for the game, 16 hits to 7.  
 
The win was credited to Aaron Cook(10-10) who went 6 and 1/3 innings allowing
3 runs. Andy Pettitte(4-13) was given the loss.  He gave up 6 hits and 1 walk
in 1 inning.
