Second baseman Brandon Phillips touched them all as the Pinehurst PinOaks
topped the Sunshine State Stalkers in 12 innings by a score of 2 to 1 at
Dolphins Stadium.

Both teams were tied at 1 runs apiece after nine innings. Pinehurst won it in
the 12th inning. After two outs Phillips ripped a base-knock. Phillips was
running on the next pitch and he stole second. Gerald Laird then slapped a
one-base hit. Laird took second on the throw. Jacoby Ellsbury stepped in
and he drew a walk. Lyle Overbay got his chance to keep things going, but he
went down on strikes. Pinehurst had 7 hits for the night.

The winning pitcher was Jim Johnson(2-0) who allowed no runs in 1 and 1/3
innings. Jesus Colome(1-1) ended up with the loss in relief. He gave up 1
run and 2 hits in 2/3 of an inning.
