Detroit tallied 3 runs in the bottom of the 5th inning when they had 3 base hits. The big moment was provided by Justin Morneau who brought the crowd to their feet when he cracked a two-run shot (his 30th of the season). Detroit banged out 12 hits on the night. The victory went to Cook(13-13) who went the distance allowing 1 run. Paul Maholm(20-5) was the losing pitcher. He surrendered 7 hits and 2 walks in 5 innings. When questioned about his counterpart after the game, Maholm was lavish in his praise, 'It was obvious very early on that we were going to be in for a long night. Cook brought his 'A' game with him - he had good stuff and was able to spot it perfectly. He probably only made one or two bad pitches the entire game! Lincecum was asked about his big strikeout performance, 'Well, it's a little odd when you rack up these numbers on the road - instead of cheers and a running tally in the stands, everything gets real still and quiet. Just strange - but it's nice to be able to take the crowd out of the game.'
