In a lop-sided win the Philadelphia Phranks ripped the reeling Atlanta
Prohibitioners by a 11 to 6 count.
Philadelphia scored 5 runs in the 3rd inning when they had 5 base hits. The
key at-bat was by Ryan Braun who silenced the crowd when he laced a one-base
hit bringing in two baserunners. Philadelphia finished with 13 hits in the
victory.
The victory went to Wandy Rodriguez(1-0) who went 5 and 1/3 innings, allowing
5 runs. The loss was charged to Jamie Moyer(0-1). He allowed a few too many
baserunners giving up 5 hits and 4 walks in 2 and 2/3 innings.

John Maine took a no-hitter into the 7th inning at Wrigley Field where the
Binghamton Brawlers beat the Wall St Millionaires by the score of 6 to
0.
Maine(1-0) was simply too much for the Wall St batters. He was stingy on the
mound, allowing just 3 hits and 1 walk in 9 innings. The right-handed Maine
lost his chance for a no-hitter when Nyjer Morgan singled with nobody out in
the 7th inning. Binghamton banged out 11 hits on the afternoon.
Ted Lilly(0-1) was the loser. He was touched for 4 homeruns in his 8 and 1/3
innings of work. Maine was obviously very pleased with his performance in
the aftermath of the game, 'It was just one of those games where everything
worked. My arm felt great, heck, I could have pitched another two or three
innings. I only hope that I can do it again next time out!'
