The Minnesota SnowBirds nipped the Pinehurst PinOaks 3 to 2 at Rogers Centre
in a hard fought contest.
 
The game was decided in the 9th inning.  After two outs Casey Blake tripled.
Brian Roberts followed and he lined a base-hit.  Marco Scutaro struck out,
unable to help the rally.  Minnesota finished with just 6 hits in the
victory.  
 
Frank Francisco(2-1) got the win allowing no runs in 2 and 1/3 innings.
Francisco got help from Andrew Bailey who was credited with his 3rd save.
Mariano Rivera(1-3) was the losing pitcher in relief.

beat the Baltimore Scrub AL 1 6 to 3.
 
Zack Greinke(3-1) pitched a solid game.  He allowed 9 hits and 1 walk in 7 and
2/3 innings.  Greinke struckout 9 Baltimore batters.  Detroit out-hit
Baltimore for the game, 14 hits to 10.  
 
Jonathan Papelbon earned the save, his 9th.  The loss was charged to Aaron
Cook(1-2).  He allowed 4 runs and 11 hits in 6 and 2/3 innings.

Bronson Arroyo blanked Washington allowing just 3 hits at Nationals Park where
the Atlanta Prohibitioners beat the Washington Scrub NL 1 by the score of 2
to 0.
 
Arroyo(1-0) was virtually untouchable.  He was stingy on the mound, allowing
just 3 hits and 3 walks in 9 innings lowering his ERA to 3.38.  Atlanta
managed only 5 hits on the afternoon.  
 
Jon Garland(0-3) absorbed the loss. He surrendered only 2 runs and 5 hits in 9
innings.

The Philadelphia Phranks came roaring back in the top of the ninth to spoil
the anticipated celebration of the hometown fans.  The final score,, was 4 to
2.
 
Philadelphia had the winning rally in the 9th inning scoring 3 runs using 2
hits.  Joey Votto led off and keyed the rally when he lashed a single.  Ian
Kinsler was next and he drew a walk.  Casey McGehee then doubled.  Yadier
Molina stepped in and he drew a walk.  Stephen Drew came to the plate and
laid down a sacrifice bunt.  Mike Wuertz then threw a wild pitch.
Philadelphia banged out 8 hits on the afternoon.  
 
The winning pitcher was George Sherrill(2-0) who allowed no runs in 1 and 1/3
innings. Francisco Rodriguez(2-2) was the losing pitcher in relief.  Fredi
Gonzalez was not very talkative after his team's tough loss.  'I'm not in the
mood for questions, but I'm sure Charlie Manual will be glad to talk about
the game as long as you have questions to ask.'

Right fielder Will Venable touched them all at Great American Bpk as the
Cincinnati Scrub NL 2 beat the Binghamton Brawlers by the count of 6 to
2.
 
Binghamton was unable to recover after Cincinnati went ahead in the bottom of
the 6th inning when they tallied 2 runs on 3 hits.  The big moment was
provided by Kelly Shoppach who elicited a roar from the hometown fans when he
doubled bringing in two baserunners.  Cincinnati had a total of 10 hits for
the game.  
 
Jason Hammel(2-1) went 8 and 2/3 innings allowing 2 runs for the victory.
Fernando Rodney earned his 2nd save.  Roy Oswalt(3-1) ended up with the loss.

The Yardley Oaks defeated the Cherry Hill Maulers by a score of 5 to 2 at US
Cellular Field.
 
Yardley came up with 3 runs in the top of the 5th inning when they had 3 base
hits.  The crucial at-bat was provided by Alberto Callaspo who disappointed
the partisan crowd when he belted a three-run homer.  Yardley banged out 10
hits on the afternoon.  
 
The victory was credited to Jeff Niemann(2-0) who went 5 innings, allowing 2
runs. Scott Downs recorded the save, his 1st.  Rick Porcello(1-3) was tagged
with the loss.

In a close game it was the Oakland Scrub AL 2 4, the Boston Stranglers 2 at
McAfee Coliseum.
 
Paul Maholm(3-2) pitched well enough to earn the win.  He surrendered 8 hits
and 2 walks in 6 innings improving his ERA from 5.63 to 4.80.  Boston was
retired without difficulty in the 9th.  
 
Burke Badenhop gained credit for his 1st save.  Jon Lester(2-1) took the loss.
'I was a little good, a little bad and a little ugly.' said Maholm, 'I was
just giving us a chance to win.'

J.A. Happ completed the game without help from the bullpen as the Wall St
Millionaires defeated the Sea Isle Seagulls by a score of 6 to 2 at PNC
Park.
 
Wall St took the lead for keeps in the 4th inning when they scored 2 runs on 2
hits.  The key at-bat was by Albert Pujols who silenced the stadium when he
cleared the fences for a two-run home run.  Wall St managed 8 hits in their
victory.  
 
Happ(3-1) allowed 2 runs on the game. The losing pitcher was Clayton
Richard(0-1).  He gave up 4 runs and 4 hits in 4 and 1/3 innings.
