The Sea Isle Seagulls toppled the Cincinnati Scrub NL 2 by a 6 to 2 score at Great American Bpk. Josh Johnson(2-2) gave a fine effort for Sea Isle. He went 7 and 2/3 innings surrendering 8 hits and 4 walks improving his ERA from 5.56 to 4.75. Sea Isle rapped out 9 hits for the afternoon. Jonathan Broxton earned his 6th save. Jason Hammel(2-2) absorbed the loss. He was hit hard and gave up 9 hits and 3 walks in 5 and 1/3 innings. Tommy Hanson pitched a complete game and Joey Votto left the yard and had 3 RBI at Citizen's Bank Park as the Philadelphia Phranks beat the Washington Scrub NL 1 by the count of 9 to 1. Philadelphia wasted no time and took the lead in the first inning scoring 3 runs using 4 hits. Andrew McCutchen kicked off the action when he banged out a single. Two outs later McCutchen took his lead and swiped second. Prince Fielder then laced a one-base hit. Votto was up next and he cracked a two-run shot. Scott Rolen stepped into the box and slapped a base-hit. Jon Garland then fired a sharp breaking ball that appeared to cross-up the catcher. In any event, it got by him and was ruled a passed ball. That early scoring was all that Hanson(2-0) needed. Philadelphia had 18 hits for the afternoon. Garland(0-4) suffered the loss. He gave up 8 runs in 4 and 2/3 innings and saw his ERA jump from 3.08 to 4.22. After an out was recorded, Drew smashed a solo-shot out of the park resulting in an exciting win for Minnesota and a wild post-game celebration by the home town fans. Minnesota ended up with 11 hits for the game while Boston had 7. The victory went to Andrew Bailey(1-1) who went 2 innings, allowing no runs. The losing pitcher was J.P. Howell(0-1) in relief. He gave up 1 run and 3 hits in 2 and 1/3 innings.
