Obviously without his best stuff, Ricky Romero(2-2) still hung on to pick up the win. He gave up 5 runs, 8 hits and 5 walks in 5 innings. Romero struckout 6 Philadelphia batters. Although they lost, Philadelphia did out-hit Washington 9 to 6. Juan Gutierrez was credited with his 1st save. Jair Jurrjens(2-1) was the loser. He allowed just 6 runs and 6 hits in 9 innings. 'I always am most impressed when a pitcher finds a way to win even without his best stuff,' Manny Acta said after the game. Jason Kubel had 4 hits and 4 RBI as the Boston Stranglers defeated the Minnesota SnowBirds by a score of 11 to 10 at Metrodome. Kubel provided much of the offense. He laced a base-hit scoring two baserunners in the 1st inning, delivered a solo blast in the 3rd inning, doubled in the 5th inning and doubled which scored a run in the 6th inning. Despite scoring in 5 separate innings, Minnesota could not get the win. The win was credited to J.P. Howell(1-1) who went 3 innings allowing 1 run. Matt Guerrier got the save, his 1st. Matt Palmer(1-2) was the loser. He was hit hard and gave up 8 hits and 4 walks in 2 and 1/3 innings.
