The score was 10 to 4. The Baltimore fans enjoyed the offense provided by Ryan Spilborghs. He smashed a two-run homer in the 1st inning, smacked a single in the 2nd inning and lashed a one-base hit scoring two baserunners in the 5th inning. Baltimore finished with 8 hits in the victory. The win was credited to Clayton Richard(3-12) who went 7 and 2/3 innings allowing 4 runs. The loss was charged to Chris Carpenter(6-7). He got hit pretty hard, allowing 5 hits and 4 walks in 2 and 1/3 innings. The Minnesota Snow Birds won by the slimmest of margins, 6 to 5. In the 5th inning Minnesota went on top for good scoring one runner on 2 base hits. Both teams totaled 13 hits on the night. Cliff Lee(12-1) picked up the victory, allowing 5 runs in 7 and 2/3 innings. Lee was helped out by David Aardsma who recorded his 7th save. Mitch Talbot(4-12) absorbed the loss. He was touched for 11 hits and 6 walks in 6 innings. 'He gutted it out' Ron Gardenhire said of Lee. 'I was very impressed by his tenacity.' Oswalt(13-2) pitched a solid game. He didn't allow much, just 7 hits and 1 walk in 9 innings. Colorado banged out 9 hits on the night. The losing pitcher was Francisco Liriano(3-5). Jim Tracy was asked about the performance of Oswalt, 'He had his good stuff out there tonight. The fans really get into it when the strikeouts start mounting up - and that seems to give him even more adrenalin.' Granderson provided the offensive punch. He delivered a solo blast in the 1st inning, banged out a single in the 3rd inning, cracked a solo homerun in the 5th inning, ripped a one-base hit in the 7th inning and lined a single in the 9th inning. Sea Isle was out-hit by Detroit, 12 hits to 6. The winning pitcher was Jeremy Guthrie(7-7) who allowed 1 run in 5 and 1/3 innings. Clayton Kershaw(13-3) suffered the loss. He served up 3 homeruns in his 8 and 2/3 innings. Lilly(8-5) was in control of the game from the outset. He didn't give up much, just 4 hits and 3 walks in 9 innings. Atlanta had a total of 13 hits for the game. Joaquin Benoit(2-1) ended up with the loss in relief. He surrendered 3 hits and no walks in 2 and 2/3 innings. 'Everything felt great' Lilly said. 'I had a good fastball, I felt I could throw it by everybody tonight.'

Sunshine State took the lead for keeps in the top of the 6th inning plating one baserunner on 2 hits. Sunshine State rapped out 10 hits for the night. Wood(8-2), allowing 2 runs for the game, picked up the victory. Johan Santana(8-6) was charged with the loss. He gave up 8 hits and no walks in 5 and 1/3 innings.
