The game started off with Detroit taking the lead in the first as they scored 6 runs on 4 base hits. That was all the offense they were to need. Detroit out-hit Oakland for the game, 12 hits to 7. The win went to Jeremy Guthrie(11-9) who allowed 4 runs in 8 and 2/3 innings. Paul Maholm(4-19) was the losing pitcher. He was unable to retire a batter and surrendered 4 hits and 3 walks. The score was tied at 7 after nine. Yardley was victorious in the 12th inning. Vladimir Guerrero lofted a solo-blast 'downtown' resulting in an exciting win for Yardley and a raucous post-game celebration by the home town fans. Yardley finished with 12 hits in the victory. Alexi Ogando(1-3) went 2 innings allowing no runs for the victory. Andrew Bailey(4-3) was the loser in relief. He surrendered 1 run and 4 hits in 4 innings. Ethier was spectacular at the plate. The hometown fans showed their appreciation with a standing ovation his last time at bat. He bombed a two-run dinger in the 1st inning, stroked a one-base hit resulting in a run in the 3rd inning and launched a Grand Slam homerun in the 6th inning. Atlanta totaled 10 hits on the night. Lilly(11-7) lasted until the end allowing 1 run for the win. Livan Hernandez(12-7) was hit with the loss. He was hit hard and gave up 8 hits and 3 walks in 5 and 1/3 innings. 'Everything felt great' Lilly said. 'I had a good fastball, I felt I could throw it by everybody tonight.' Gonzalez led the offense for Sea Isle. He lined a one-base hit in the 3rd inning, belted a three-run homer in the 4th inning and stroked a base-hit bringing in two baserunners in the 9th inning. Sea Isle kept the scorekeepers busy in the 3rd inning which saw them plate 4 runs on 4 hits, the 4th inning tallying 4 runs and the 9th inning with 4 runs on 6 hits. Offensively, Sea Isle was a juggernaut. They scored in 6 separate innings. Josh Johnson(7-6) went 8 and 1/3 innings allowing 5 runs for the win. Ian Kennedy(9-5) was given the loss. He served up 3 gopher balls in 3 and 2/3 innings. Sea Isle now has a record of 65-49. Wall St, which had been on a roll, saw their record drop to 69-44.

The incredible Sunshine State Stalkers topped the Washington Alouettes by the slimmest of margins, 7 to 6. Sunshine State erupted with the game winning runs in the 8th inning when they came up with 4 runs on 5 hits. The big moment was provided by Jay Bruce who made the home-town crowd a happy bunch when he cleared the fences for a two-run home run. Nick Masset(5-0) got relief help from Heath Bell who was excellent in relief and gained credit for his 33rd save. Huston Street(1-6) was tagged with the loss in relief. He gave up 3 hits and no walks in 1/3 of an inning. Baltimore jumped on top of Cherry Hill in the 3rd inning plating one baserunner. Baltimore banged out 9 hits on the night. The victory was credited to Masterson(2-15) who went the distance, allowing 2 runs. Zack Greinke(10-10) was tagged with the loss. He allowed 3 homeruns in 9 innings of work. When questioned, Buck Showalter remarked, 'It's been a while since a win felt this good - heck, it's been a while since we had a win period!' Cueto(4-3) had a strong outing. He allowed just 6 hits and 3 walks in 9 innings. Philadelphia rapped out 12 hits for the night. Mitch Talbot(5-17) ended up with the loss. He was unable to control the Philadelphia offense and allowed 9 hits and 4 walks in 6 innings.
