The game was deadlocked at 1 after nine full innings. Yardley won the hard fought contest in the 12th inning. After an out was recorded, Cliff Pennington got things going when he drew a walk. Jose Bautista came next and he laced a single. Vladimir Guerrero then ripped a single to load the bases. Robinson Cano stepped in and he drew a walk. Cuddyer came to the plate and slapped a base-hit. Yardley had 11 hits for the night. Price(8-8) got credit for the victory, pitching 11 innings and allowing 1 run. Neftali Feliz gained credit for his 17th save. Mitchell Boggs(0-5) was the loser in relief. He was knocked around, surrendering 3 runs in 2 innings. Buck Showalter was impressed with Price and his 11 strikeouts. 'It's tough to generate runs if you can't make contact with the ball.' The home town fans were very appreciative of the fine hitting performance provided by Konerko. He blasted a solo shot in the 4th inning, tripled in the 6th inning and lofted a solo-blast 'downtown' in the 8th inning. Boston tried unsuccessfully to come back in the 9th. Matt Capps(4-4) got the win allowing no runs in 1 and 2/3 innings. Mariano Rivera got the save, his 25th. Trevor Cahill(11-9) was hit with the loss. He served up 3 homeruns in his 7 and 1/3 innings. Jered Weaver(15-7) pitched well enough to earn the win. He went 7 innings surrendering 12 hits and 1 walk. Weaver mowed down 8 Minnesota batters. Detroit rapped out 14 hits for the night. Weaver got relief help from Evan Meek who gained credit for his 3rd save. The loss was charged to Cliff Lee(15-3). He got hammered, allowing 14 hits and 3 walks in 8 and 2/3 innings. No one has been able to stop Detroit lately as they lengthened their winning streak to 6 games. 'I'm glad to get the win', Weaver said. 'We've got some good momentum going now.' Adam Wainwright(13-7) gave a fine effort for Colorado. He was reached for 8 hits and 3 walks in 7 and 2/3 innings. Tim Stauffer came throught with a perfect ninth inning to earn his 7th save. Clayton Kershaw(16-5) took the loss. Despite taking the loss, he whiffed 14 batters in 8 and 2/3 innings.

Fukudome was a thorn in the side of the hometown fans as he enjoyed a fine day at their team's expense. He clubbed a solo home run in the 1st inning, stroked a single in the 6th inning, tripled in the 7th inning, stroked a base-hit knocking in a run in the 8th inning and slapped a one-base hit in the 9th inning. Sunshine State had a total of 14 hits for the game. Sanchez(14-6) was the winner allowing 2 runs for the game. Edwin Jackson(5-18) absorbed the loss. He surrendered 3 runs and 7 hits in 6 and 2/3 innings. Wall St started with a bang, jumping out to an early lead in their half of the first when they came up with 3 runs on 3 hits. That was all the offense they were to need. For the game Wall St out-hit Atlanta 7 to 4. Cain(10-8) picked up the victory, allowing 1 run in 6 and 2/3 innings. Cain got help from Eric O'Flaherty who earned his 3rd save. Bronson Arroyo(7-15) was charged with the loss. He gave up 5 runs and 3 hits in 7 and 1/3 innings. The score was knotted at 7 after nine innings. Finally, Washington pulled the game out in the 11th inning. Overbay smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly'. Cody Ross was the next batter, but he struck out. Russell Martin then drew a walk. Washington finished with 18 hits while Philadelphia ended up with 14. James McDonald(1-0) went 2 and 1/3 innings allowing no runs for the win. Billy Wagner(5-4) took the loss in relief. He pitched 1/3 of an inning allowing 1 hit and 1 walk.
