He went 6 and 2/3 innings and surrended up 2 hits and 4 walks. The left-handed Wilson had his no-hit bid broken up by Ryan Spilborghs who singled with two outs in the 7th inning. Yardley ended up with 7 hits for the game while Baltimore had 4. Neftali Feliz preserved the game for Wilson, recording his his 18th. Justin Masterson(2-16) was the losing pitcher. He allowed 5 hits and 2 walks in 5 and 2/3 innings. Boston scored 4 runs in the top of the 7th inning when they came up with 4 base hits. The highlight belonged to Wilson Betemit who quieted the crowd when he lofted a three-run bomb. Boston totaled 12 hits on the afternoon. Craig Breslow(5-6) went 3 innings allowing no runs for the victory. Ricky Romero(15-10) was tagged with the loss. Despite the loss, he struckout 10 Boston batters in 6 and 1/3 innings. DETROIT AT MINNESOTA 40s............. 0 0 1 0 0 0 1 0 0 - 2 8 0 Snow Birds...... 1 0 0 0 0 4 2 0 - 7 12 0 Win:Danks(9-11) Loss:Guthrie(11-10) Save:Jepsen(2nd) John Danks retired 10 batters on strikeouts at Target Field where the Minnesota Snow Birds beat the Detroit 40s by the score of 7 to 2. Danks(9-11) earned his pay with a solid performance for Minnesota. He allowed 6 hits and no walks in 6 and 2/3 innings. Overall Minnesota out-hit Detroit 12 to 8. Kevin Jepsen got the save, his 2nd. Jeremy Guthrie(11-10) took the loss. He was not very effective, surrendering 7 runs in 6 innings. Danks was pleased with his performance. He noted, 'I had good zip on my pitches. Just as important, my location was right on. The fans really got into the game too - that always helps me. Now, if I can only do that again in my next outing.' COLORADO AT SEA ISLE Eskimos......... 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 - 0 6 0 Seagulls........ 0 1 0 0 0 0 0 0 - 1 5 1 Win:Johnson(8-6) Loss:Hernandez(12-8) Save:Wilson(23rd) In a game for the baseball purist, Josh Johnson(8-6) and Livan Hernandez(12-8) squared off in a tense pitching duel, Sea Isle Seagulls finally emerged victorious over Colorado Eskimos, 1 to 0. The winning run, and the only run, was scored by Sea Isle in the bottom of the 2nd inning. That was all Johnson needed. Colorado made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across. Johnson got relief help from Brian Wilson who gained credit for his 23rd save. Jim Tracy was in a contemplative mood after the tough loss, 'It is really hard to lose this kind of a game. It may seem weird to some, but it is easier to take the occasional blow-out loss. It is the ones that just barely get away that hurt so much - like this one!' SUNSHINE STATE AT CINCINNATI Stalkers........ 1 0 1 6 1 3 1 3 0 - 16 19 1 Blue Bombers.... 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 - 0 4 2 Win:Dempster(3-1) Loss:Talbot(5-18) Homeruns- T.Tulowitzki(23rd), J.Willingham-2(16th) Ryan Dempster struck out 12 batters and left fielder Josh Willingham cracked 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI as the potent Sunshine State Stalkers smashed the overmatched struggling Cincinnati Blue Bombers, 16 to 0. Willingham was a one-man wrecking crew. He bombed a two-run dinger in the 4th inning, belted a three-run homer in the 6th inning and lined a base-hit in the 8th inning. Sunshine State kept the scorekeepers busy in the 4th inning with 6 runs on 5 hits. The Sunshine State offense poured it on, scoring in 7 of the 9 innings. Dempster(3-1) was credited with the shutout, his first of the year. The loss was charged to Mitch Talbot(5-18). He was unable to control the Sunshine State offense and allowed 7 hits and 3 walks in 3 and 2/3 innings. Dusty Baker was impressed with Dempster and his 12 strikeouts. 'It's tough to generate runs if you can't make contact with the ball.'

Both teams had scored 1 runs after nine full innings. Finally, Atlanta prevailed in the 11th inning. Aubrey Huff led off and keyed the rally when he doubled. Colby Rasmus came to the plate and drew a walk. Andre Ethier then banged out a single to load the bases. Matt Holliday followed next and he laced a base-hit resulting in a mighty exciting win for Atlanta and the 47,107 home town fans in attendance. Atlanta managed 7 hits in their victory. Tyler Clippard(1-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 1/3 of an inning and allowing no runs. Chris Perez(3-5) was given the loss in relief. He surrendered 2 runs and 3 hits in 1 and 2/3 innings. The winning ways continue for Atlanta. They now have a record of 8-2 in recent days. Wall St has a record of 70-48 after the loss. Philadelphia brought 4 runs across the plate in the 6th inning with the help of 4 hits. The big moment was provided by Infante who made the Philadelphia fans a happy lot when he ripped a single plating two runs. Philadelphia had a total of 11 hits for the game. Wilton Lopez(1-0) got the win allowing 3 runs in 1 and 2/3 innings. Lopez was helped out by Hong-Chih Kuo who recorded his 6th save. The losing pitcher was Vicente Padilla(0-1). He gave up 4 runs and 6 hits in 5 and 1/3 innings.
