TORONTO AT BALTIMORE Argonauts....... 1 0 2 0 0 0 0 1 1 - 5 10 0 Lions........... 0 1 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 - 2 9 2 Win:Pineiro(9-9) Loss:Volstad(2-14) Save:Rivera(26th) Homeruns- B.Upton(12th), V.Wells(28th) Center fielder Vernon Wells went deep and had 2 RBI as the Toronto Argonauts defeated the floundering Baltimore Lions by a score of 5 to 2 at Camden Yards. In the 3rd inning Toronto scored 2 runs. After an out was recorded, Josh Hamilton kicked off the action when he drew a walk. Paul Konerko stepped into the batter's box and he slapped a base-hit, and an error was also committed. Wells then laced a single. One out later, Evan Longoria came to bat and was walked intentionally. That was all the offense they were to need. Toronto totaled 10 hits on the night. Joel Pineiro(9-9) picked up the victory, allowing 2 runs in 5 innings. Mariano Rivera recorded the save, his 26th. Chris Volstad(2-14) suffered the loss. With this win, Toronto has a 65-54 record. They have been 6-4 lately. Buck Showalter was pretty down after the loss. 'We've really been sputtering along lately, something like 1-9 in the last week or two. That won't get it done.' COLORADO AT CINCINNATI Eskimos......... 0 3 0 0 2 0 2 1 1 - 9 12 2 Blue Bombers.... 0 0 3 0 0 0 1 0 0 - 4 7 0 Win:Garland(10-9) Loss:Norris(5-11) Homeruns- C.Young(17th), A.Dunn-2(28th), R.Theriot(4th) First baseman Adam Dunn rocketed 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI at Great American Bpk as the spectacular Colorado Eskimos beat the struggling Cincinnati Blue Bombers by the count of 9 to 4. Dunn was a seemingly constant irritant to the hometown fans as he provided much of the offense for the visitors. He delivered a solo blast in the 2nd inning, lined a single in the 6th inning, ripped a one-base hit plating a run in the 7th inning and blasted a solo shot in the 9th inning. For the game Colorado out-hit Cincinnati 12 to 7. The winning pitcher was Jon Garland(10-9) who allowed 4 runs in 8 and 2/3 innings. The loss was charged to Bud Norris(5-11). He pitched 6 and 1/3 innings allowing 6 hits and 3 walks. Yardley had a total of 7 hits for the game. Hernandez(12-9) went the distance for the shutout. Gavin Floyd(5-16) was tagged with the loss. He served up 3 homeruns in his 7 and 1/3 innings. Minnesota scored 4 runs in the decisive 5th inning when they had 3 base hits. The key at-bat was by David Dejesus who quieted the home crowd when he clubbed a three-run home run. Wall St was not lacking for run support as they scored in 5 separate innings, yet victory eluded them as they seemed to forget that pitching is also needed to win ballgames. Colby Lewis(9-13) was the winner allowing 4 runs in 5 and 1/3 innings. Lewis got help from Jesse Crain who was credited with his 2nd save. Chris Carpenter(8-10) ended up with the loss. He was touched for 10 hits and 2 walks in 5 and 2/3 innings.
