Baltimore erupted with the game winning runs in the 8th inning plating 3 runs utilizing 3 base hits. After two were out Ryan Spilborghs kicked off the action when he cracked a solo homerun. Erick Aybar came to the plate and reached on an error. Adam Rosales then hit a single. Chris Johnson was up next and he slapped a base-hit, and an error was also committed. Bobby Abreu came up to bat and drew a walk to load the bases. Jose Guillen extended the rally and drew a walk. Baltimore finished with 11 hits in the victory. Volstad(3-17), allowing 2 runs for the game, picked up the victory. Jesse Crain(4-2) took the loss in relief. He pitched 1 and 1/3 innings allowing 3 hits and 2 walks. Hernandez(15-10) looked very much in control throughout the day. He gave up just 4 hits and 2 walks in 7 and 2/3 innings. The pitchers took over after the 4th inning as neither team was able to score again. Neftali Feliz earned the save, his 23rd. Doug Fister(8-10) absorbed the loss. He pitched 8 innings giving up 8 hits and 2 walks. Hernandez was pleased with his performance. He noted, 'I had good zip on my pitches. Just as important, my location was right on. The fans really got into the game too - that always helps me. Now, if I can only do that again in my next outing.' Pujols enjoyed a great day at the plate. Every time he came up in the latter innings, the crowd was on their feet cheering. He slapped a single scoring two baserunners in the 1st inning, doubled in the 3rd inning, laced a base-hit in the 4th inning, lofted a solo-blast 'downtown' in the 6th inning and doubled bringing in a run in the 8th inning. Wall St had many opportunities throughout the game and scored in 6 separate innings. Chris Carpenter(10-10) went 7 innings allowing 3 runs for the win. Carpenter got help from Chris Perez who was credited with his 24th save. Jamie Moyer(1-3) ended up with the loss. He was not very effective, surrendering 6 runs in 2 and 2/3 innings. Pujols was in a good mood after the game, 'I'm just seeing and hitting the ball real well now. I made some adjustments last week and they are paying off. That's what this game is about. making adjustments as the season goes along.' Latos(14-10) contributed a very nicely pitched game. He allowed just 8 hits and 1 walk in 8 and 1/3 innings. Sea Isle managed 7 hits in their victory. Latos got relief help from Brian Wilson who gained credit for his 24th save. The losing pitcher was R.A. Dickey(8-8). He couldn't find the plate, issuing 8 walks in 5 and 2/3 innings. Latos was pleased with his performance. He noted, 'I had good command of all my pitches. Just as important, my location was right on.'

The final score was the Sunshine State Stalkers 3, the slumping Washington Alouettes 2. Jonathan Sanchez(16-7) pitched a fine game. He allowed 3 hits and 3 walks in 8 and 1/3 innings. Washington had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short. Sanchez was helped out by Heath Bell who recorded his 39th save. Jonathon Niese(7-15) was the losing pitcher. 'We lose our concentration for one pitch, and we lose the game.' Moises Alou said after the game. 'Maybe now these guys will listen when I say they have to concentrate on EVERY pitch.' Both teams had scored 3 runs after nine full innings. Detroit came out on top in the 10th inning. Jed Lowrie got things going when he banged out a single. Coco Crisp was next and he lashed a single. Michael Young was the next batter, but he struck out. Hall came up and he clubbed a three-run home run. After another out, Billy Butler came to bat and drew a walk. Boston out-hit Detroit 12 to 9, but Detroit ended up with more runs. The win was credited to Daniel Bard(4-1) who went 2 innings allowing no runs. Craig Breslow(6-9) absorbed the loss in relief. He allowed Detroit 3 runs in 2 innings of work. Wth the win Detroit now has a record of 76-63. With the loss, Boston has a record of 5-5 lately, 71-68 overall. Colorado claimed the early lead in the first inning plating an isolated run using 2 hits. Colorado totaled 14 hits on the afternoon. The win was credited to Garland(12-11) who went the whole way allowing 1 run. Tim Lincecum(11-9) was hit with the loss. While he was the losing pitcher, he still struck out 4 batters in 1 and 2/3 innings. Clay Buchholz(15-2) had a solid outing for Cherry Hill. He went 7 innings allowing 6 hits and 2 walks. Cherry Hill totaled 8 hits on the afternoon. Joakim Soria gained credit for his 42nd save. Chris Narveson(10-11) was the losing pitcher. He gave up 8 hits and 4 walks in 7 and 2/3 innings.
