Colorado was unable to climb back into it after Baltimore went ahead for good in the bottom of the 3rd inning when they scored 4 runs on 5 hits. That was all the offense they were to need. Baltimore finished with 16 hits in the victory. Lackey(8-19) got the victory, allowing 1 run for the game. Adam Wainwright(18-8) took the loss. He got hit pretty hard, allowing 7 hits and 4 walks in 3 and 1/3 innings. 'He was moving it around and spotting it very well.' Jim Tracy said. Lackey pitched a great game. He deserves all the credit.' Brett Anderson(2-4) gave Toronto a solid outing. He went 7 and 1/3 innings allowing 6 hits and 1 walk. Toronto managed 10 hits in their victory. Mariano Rivera preserved the game for Anderson, recording his his 33rd. The losing pitcher was Randy Wolf(2-15). With this win, Toronto has a 78-68 record. They have been 5-5 lately. Cincinnati can't seem to snap out of their recent 'funk'. Now they have a miserable 2-8 record over the last couple weeks. Washington brought 2 runs across the plate in the bottom of the 5th inning when they had 3 base hits. The big moment was provided by Francoeur who made the Washington fans a happy lot when he laced a one-base hit which was good for two runs. Washington managed only 5 hits on the afternoon. Mark Buehrle(9-16) allowed no runs in 7 and 1/3 innings, and picked up the victory. Buehrle was helped out by Huston Street who recorded his 14th save. Cole Hamels(10-13) was hit with the loss. Granderson led the offense for Detroit. He blasted a Grand Slam homerun in the 1st inning and smashed a solo-shot out of the park in the 5th inning. Atlanta threatened in the 9th but Detroit was able to put down the rally. Dan Haren(12-14) picked up the victory, allowing 2 runs in 6 and 2/3 innings. Daniel Bard earned his 19th save. Bronson Arroyo(10-18) ended up with the loss. Bobby Cox was subdued after the ballgame, 'That one really hurts. If our guys had simply played more fundamentally sound, we could have won that one. That is what really ticks me off!'

Oakland scored the winning runs in the bottom of the 9th inning scoring 2 runs using 3 hits. After an out was recorded, Callaspo got things rolling when he singled. Pablo Sandoval was next and he smacked a single. One out later, Felix Pie came to bat and doubled giving Oakland the victory as 12,495 happy fans celebrated wildly. Minnesota was out-hit by Oakland, 11 hits to 7. Guillermo Mota(3-5) went 1/3 of an inning allowing no runs for the win. Cliff Lee(16-7) was the loser. 'We just wouldn't give up,' Callaspo said. 'Much of the credit goes to our fans - they were with us the whole way.' After an out was recorded, Alex Rios stepped in and he lined a single. Nick Markakis then delivered a single. One out later, Elvis Andrus dug into the batters box next, but he struck out. The game was deadlocked at 6 after nine full innings. Wall St won the game in the 10th inning. After an out was recorded, Pujols ripped a one-base hit. Ryan Zimmerman next to the plate and he stroked a base-hit. Neil Walker then drew a walk to load the bases. Andrew McCutchen followed next and he lashed a single giving Wall St the win much to the delight of the home town crowd. Wall St had 13 hits overall, while Cherry Hill had 10. Nelson Figueroa(5-3) got the win allowing no runs in 2 innings. Joakim Soria(3-3) absorbed the loss in relief. He pitched 1 and 1/3 innings giving up 5 hits and 1 walk.

Ryan Dempster(6-1) delivered a fine performance for Sunshine State. He was reached for 8 hits and 1 walk in 8 and 1/3 innings and served up 2 'big flies'. Sunshine State had a total of 9 hits for the game. Heath Bell got the save, his 42nd. Jaime Garcia(10-6) took the loss. He gave up 6 hits and no walks in 7 innings.
