Colorado had many opportunities throughout the game and scored in 6 separate innings. Roy Oswalt(22-4) picked up the victory, allowing 4 runs in 7 and 2/3 innings. Joe Saunders(4-21) was the losing pitcher. He was knocked around by Colorado, allowing 10 hits and 3 walks in 6 and 1/3 innings. Hill was unconscious all evening. The Cincinnati fans hated to see him approaching the batter's box as he just kept delivering base hits! He clubbed a solo home run in the 3rd inning, launched a three-run homer in the 4th inning and doubled which plated a run in the 9th inning. Toronto rapped out 8 hits for the night. Romero(20-11) lasted until the end allowing 1 run for the win. The losing pitcher was Edwin Jackson(6-22). He served up 3 homeruns in his 3 and 2/3 innings. 'I felt great out there tonight' Hill said. 'I was seeing the ball perfectly, and I was right on it with my swing. Sea Isle had 4 runs cross the plate in the top of the 6th inning with the help of 3 hits. The critical plate appearance was by Valdez who silenced Nationals Park as he stroked a one-base hit bringing in two baserunners. Neither team was able to score until the 6th inning. Mike Pelfrey(12-10) went 5 and 2/3 innings allowing 2 runs for the victory. Brian Wilson was credited with his 25th save. Vicente Padilla(1-4) suffered the loss. Granderson was a thorn in the side of the hometown fans as he enjoyed a fine day at their team's expense. He smashed a two-run homer in the 1st inning, slapped a base-hit in the 7th inning and tripled which brought home a run in the 9th inning. Detroit finished with 12 hits in the victory. Jered Weaver(19-9) got credit for the victory, pitching 8 and 1/3 innings and allowing 5 runs. Grant Balfour preserved the game for Weaver, recording his his 1st. Anibal Sanchez(13-11) was charged with the loss. He allowed 3 homeruns in 6 innings of work. Wth the win Detroit now has a record of 81-66. With the loss, the Atlanta ballclub's record is 71-76.

In the 3rd inning Minnesota went on top for good when they came up with 2 runs on 3 hits. Oakland had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short. The victory went to Fausto Carmona(14-13) who went 6 and 2/3 innings, allowing 4 runs. Carmona got help from David Aardsma who earned his 13th save. Jake Westbrook(5-18) absorbed the loss. He gave up 5 runs and 13 hits in 6 and 1/3 innings. 'Ahhh, that victory was surely needed. Man alive, things were getting awfully grim,' noted Ron Gardenhire. 'Now, we need to string a bunch of wins together and turn things around!' Both teams were tied at 2 runs apiece after nine innings. Boston came out on top in the 12th inning. Howie Kendrick smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly' resulting in an exciting win for Boston and a wild post-game celebration by the home town fans. Boston had a total of 9 hits for the game. The winning pitcher was Andrew Bailey(7-4) who allowed 1 run in 2 innings. Neftali Feliz(5-4) was hit with the loss in relief. He pitched 1 inning and surrendered 2 hits and no walks. Zack Greinke(13-11) delivered a fine performance for Cherry Hill. He went 8 and 2/3 innings allowing 9 hits and 5 walks. For the game Cherry Hill out-hit Wall St 14 to 9. Joakim Soria got the save, his 45th. Dallas Braden(18-5) was the loser. He got hammered, allowing 7 hits and 6 walks in 4 and 2/3 innings. Cherry Hill continued their winnings ways improving their record to a division leading 100-47. They are 8-2 in their last ten games. With the loss, the Wall St ballclub's record is 91-56.
